Today students developed essays in collaboration on the question of Dr. Victor Frankenstein's guilt or innocence. The cyber-assignment we were writing today is still due today.

If you do not get the essay in you have a zero. This is a high impact essay, not an exercise (see syllabus). The essay is to be 500 words minimally. Use the Mary Shelley's novel for evidence. You can also cite from the California Penal Code and your scholarly research earlier this semester. Please feel free to use any of your freewrites also.

Post your essay here. Read the earlier discussion on the topic for ideas.

Again, check the blog for the check-list before Monday. We will work on organizing our portfolios next week, Thursday in the lab. Bring all your work (essays on a disk or jump-drive).

I think that Dr.Frankenstein is guilty of the crimes that were committed by his creation. Frankenstein ran off from the creature since he became alive. It was a cowardly thing to do considering the fact that he made him ugly and bigger that a normal human being on purpose. If Frankenstein would have taken responsibility for his creature and would have put him in a cage, or put him on some kind of leash, the deaths of his family members could have been avoided.

It was Frankenstein’s fault that the creature was rejected by society. The creature was born to be a gentle, kind giant, but his bad experiences wit human beings turned him into an evil being. It was evident that the creature had a good heart, because he helped Felix out at the cottage all the time, and the reason that he did it was because he felt good about himself when he helped the cottagers out. If the creature was evil he wouldn’t help the cottagers, but would try to kidnap one of the women, or would set the cottage on fire while they were asleep. The creature also saved a girl that was drowning in the river, but was shot by her father because Frankenstein made the creature so hideous that no one would want to interact with it.

If Frankenstein would have taken responsibility for his creation, he could have introduced his creature to society so that people wouldn’t be afraid of the creature. I think that people were horrified by the creature because he didn’t look human. If Frankenstein had introduced his creation to society, people would have probably gotten close to the creature and would embrace him as you would embrace some type of ugly deformed puppy. The creature wouldn’t have committed the murders because he would have never experienced hate. People were being hateful towards him because they had never seen or had heard of such a creature , so they were terrified of him, because they probably thought that he was a monster out of a story that lived somewhere out in the woods.
Dr. Frankenstein is guilty for the second degree murders of William, Clerval, Justine, and Elizabeth, because he knew that he creature was out here committing murders, and he kept it a secret. If you let your dog out in the street with out a lease and you know that it is a dangerous animal, and it kills a person you are going to be held responsible for the actions of your dog. The creature also wanted revenge on Frankenstein because it was clearly Frankenstein’s fault that the creature was so hideous. Frankenstein could have made the creature better looking so it is understandable that he creature feels so much hate towards him. The creature’s ugliness played a big factor in the way that he was treated. One example can be seen with Felix’s dad. He was blind, so he didn’t fear the creature at first. This proves that the creature misery was because Frankenstein made him so ugly

Dr. Frankenstein is guilty for many reasons. As an exceptionally smart human being, he was able to precisely plan and execute the creation of the monster. While not being able to foreseen the actions of the monster, he was however able to connect the human parts in such a way that the final figure of the creature was unbearable to look at. Dr. Frankenstein is guilty of neglecting and abandoning his creation, he is also guilty of not making an effort to prove the existence of the monster after he committed his first crime, finally, Dr. Frankenstein is guilty of trying to give human life to “something” he new would never be accepted by society. Although Dr. Frankenstein did not physically killed, William, Justine, Elizabeth and Clerval, he planted a seed of hate and revenge in the heart of the person who did in fact commit the crimes, furthermore, when given the chance to redeem himself he did not take the opportunity to do so. Instead he deliberately decided to destroy the partner the monster needed in order to be happy and to stop his need for blood.

Once the monster was awakened, Dr. Frankenstein made the conscious decision to run away. He somehow tries to justify this action by saying he could not stand looking at the creature. If after meticulously choosing the human parts he created the monster with. Why was he not able to give the monster a different more pleasant appearance? he was on to explain “unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created, I rushed out of the room and continued a long time traversing my bed-chamber unable to compose my mind to sleep”(63). While creating a creature that resembled a human, Dr. Frankenstein did not stop to think for a moment about the creature’s feelings and emotions. By abandoning his creature, he emotionally neglected him. The monster, just like any of us, needed love and affection, because he was deprived from this essential needs, the creature was turned into a killing monster.

After the monster killed William and blamed Justine. Dr. Frankenstein was able to participate in her trial while remaining silent about the nature of the true killer, who was the creature he had indeed created and later abandoned. He confessed to feeling guilty, “my own agitation and anguish was extreme during the whole trial. I believed in her innocence; I knew it” (71). Nonetheless, he never even attempted to speak up in her defense. If Dr. Frankenstein’s feelings of guilt were real, he would have tried to convince the judges and the people of the existence and culpability of the monster.

Finally, Dr. Frankenstein spent many days, months and years building his creation, he connected the parts of human remains in such a way that the figure of the monster could somewhat resemble the one of a human. Nevertheless, he was aware that the creature could never fully look like a human being therefore would never be accepted as one. The motivation behind the creation of the monster was the need he had to create something never seen before, the need to impress and stunt his fellow classmates and his professors. This monster was created out of arrogance. When describing his feeling toward the construction of the monster Dr. Frankenstein explains “I was surprise that among so many men of genius who had directed their inquires toward the same science, that I alone should be reserved to discover so astonishing a secret” (38). Dr. Frankenstein was blinded by pride and did not consider the fact that the monster, being made out of human remains could possibly have human feelings. Furthermore, he did not even tried to give the monster more of a human presence. He could have perhaps gathered human parts that together created harmony rather than terror.

In conclusion, Dr. Frankenstein is not only guilty of the crimes I just mentioned. He is also guilty of irresponsibility and selfishness. He never stopped to consider the results of his action. Because the creature was made out of human remains, he had human feelings. Like many neglected children who lack love and attention, the creature became desperate and vengeful. Not having the skills to control his emotion and by also understanding that no one could ever love him because of his appearance. The monster begins to torment his creator, the creator who had abandoned him with out any remorse. In a way the book can teach us the effect our actions can have in other people. All of us need love and social acceptance in order to be happy and functional. Furthermore, the story can also teach us that we must respect each other regardless of the way we look. The reason why there is so much violence, discrimination, genocides and wars is because we are still trying to master the skills involving respect and tolerance.

Dr. Victor Frankenstein is guilty for the charges of bringing a child into this world and neglecting it and also guilty for all the murders that his child committed. Every parent is responsible for his child’s behavior until they reach the age eight-teen. He brought baby Frankenstein into this world for the sake of our world. But I believe that he brought him into this world for himself. To see if its possible. To create a living human being it life with science. When he seen that its possible he was frighten, he didn’t know how to react. When you have a child you take all responsibilities for there actions and Dr. Frankenstein didn’t want to take any reasonability for the act of his creation.

When Dr. Frankenstein seen that his scientific experiment came to life he ran out the room so quickly that his new born child couldn’t say a word to his father. And when a child feels neglected and abandon as Baby Frankenstein that child is going to want to make its parents ever regret leaving them. The child is going to want to take away everything that you cared about in his world. The way a child feels about there parent, there someone that’s supposed to be there for you at all times and when you need a shoulder to lean on your parent is supposed to be that person. So baby Frankenstein wanted to take everything that his father ever loved. Which was his family.

Dr. Frankenstein could have prevented all the killings that his child committed just by accepting the fact that he has a child. Baby Frankenstein killed all the people that his father truly cared about, which were his younger brother, his wife and her best friend. If Dr. Frankenstein had just told everyone after the first murder that he knew who it might have been he could have prevented all the other deaths in his family.

Also Dr. Frankenstein had an encounter with his child more then once and his child made a deal with him. Such as if he created another creation just like him but a woman he would leave Dr. Frankenstein and his family alone. He just wanted someone to communicate with, someone like himself. He was alone and no child or parent want to be alone. But as he was creating it he destroyed it right in front of his face with no remorse. Baby Frankenstein felt so hurt and betrayed he went and killed his fathers wife during there honeymoon. So as you can see Dr. Frankenstein is guilty for the charges and also he could have prevented all of this if was just an adult and accepted the fact that he was a father and it was his own fault that he became a father sooner then he wanted. All Baby Frankenstein wanted was to have the person that brought him into this world just accept him as there own child and for everyone else to accept him for who he was from the inside not the outside.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, we sit here today to try and determine the guilt or innocents of my client, Dr. Frankenstein. The prosecutor had told you that Frankenstein is guilty because Frankenstein did the impossible and brought dead body parts back to life. But why would this fully-grown, and obviously capable man, or monster, whichever name you like better. This monster was left to fend for himself, and as evident by his presence here in the courtroom, proves that he is capable of providing for himself and even educating himself in both languages and the nuances of our culture. The monster was even able to pick up on revenge and how to affect his creator’s, in other words his one and only parent and father’s emotions.

The monster even admitted that he learned everything by watching some poor farmer in the woods. If he learned everything from this farmer boy, where is he? That’s the person who should be sitting in that chair, not Dr. Frankenstein. This poor farmer boy is also the same person who taught the monster to love and how to obtain revenge. Without this farmer boy the monster would have never developed any emotions like hatred or a desire for revenge. But here is the true conundrum, why does the monster feel that he needs to or has a reason to obtain revenge against Dr. Frankenstein. All Frankenstein did was to GIVE HIM LIFE! Without Frankenstein’s genius, drive, and determination the monster would even be able to take a breath, let alone think about wanting revenge on his creator.

And what about the scientific development the monster represents? How many of you have lost someone that you love? How would you feel that after they died, the doctor would offer to perform the procedure that Dr. Frankenstein had created to bring back your dead loved one? Now all of our life spans have gone from 80 years to almost an infinite amount. This about it, your at home late on night, almost asleep in your warm and comfortable bed, and the phone rings. You pick it up and it’s a police officer on the other line. Is this the mother or father of so and so? Well I have horrible news for you, your son or daughter just died in an accident with a drunk driver. Yea they are dead, and the other guy is still alive some how, but it was his fault, as it normally goes. But now Dr. Frankenstein steps in. You are asked to come down to the hospital to sign a consent form so that my client can bring your son or daughter, BACK TO LIFE. Yes that’s right Dr. Frankenstein is waiting with your loved ones lifeless body, so that once you sign that paper, he can do what was just recently thought impossible and give them their life back. No more tears over someone’s life cut short for no reason. No more deaths to drunk drivers.

So does Dr. Frankenstein recall deserve this trial, and to be treated like some common murderer for doing the exact opposite and giving people back their life? I think not, so remember this as you go in to deliberate about my clients future as a free man, when you get that call late at night about the accident, do you want to sing a consent form, or start planning a funeral?

The student essays look at Dr. Frankenstein's situation similarly, all except the last essay which finds Dr. Frankenstein innocent and his monster guilty. In fact, "the country boy" is named responsible since it was by watching this family that baby Frankenstein became "civilized." He learned to speak by watching this family from his hiding place. He learned about love from watching this family interact.

Samantha's essay is lyrical, especially in her fourth paragraph where she speaks of the lessons baby Frankenstein learns in his father absence, through his father's neglect.

Tomas' gives great analogies to prove his claim that Frankenstein is guilty as charged similar to the owner of a dog who harms someone because his owner failed to keep him contained.

Anisa gives us the term "baby Frankenstein," and agrees with Tomas and Samantha on Dr. V. Frankenstein's guilt.

While Patrick's argument is an original and interesting take on the subject, I think the guilt of the family needs to be better flushed out if the blame is to be shifted from the "creator or inventor" to the monster. The claim that Dr. Frankenstein's invention is a blessing to society is well supported. The tone is great and takes into consideration the setting: a courtroom. Very nice Patrick!

The problem with Patrick and Anisa's essays lies in the writing. Both essays need to be edited for clarity. There are words missing, grammatical problems, and misspelled words that confuse the reader and detract from the meaning.

Anisa you got a C because there is not much reference to the text.

Tomas has a B, Samantha an A-, Patrick a C.

Tomas and Samantha your grades also reflect a need to proof read the final draft, there are a few grammatical errors and/or wrong words, or misspelled words.

If any of you want to revise your essays for a higher grade you have until Monday to resubmit.

For students whose essays are not in, your grade on the essay is one grade lower. You only have until the end of Friday, May 11 (midnight) to submit it.

Re: Frankenstein essay

Teacher's note:
Wonderful essay Donna.
The case you present against Dr. Frankenstein is thoughtful and the evidence you site from the text serve the case well.

I was tempted to edit it, but stopped myself :-) You received a B because you do not introduce the topic; the essay jumps into the case without any preamble. Who is Frankenstein, what questions are we considering here and why?

Yours is a great counterargument for Patrick. I hope you feel better soon and can add an introduction to the essay, and proofread it to raise the grade to an B+/A.

Donna's essay:
Even though Dr Frankenstein did not directly murder his younger brother William, nor did he purposely have Justine executed he did let the hideous creature run loose. He also knowingly created a human being that would not be able to blend in with society due to his physical appearance and he turned his back on his creation. By doing all this he created an innocent human being that became evil because of his rejection in society and his fathers non-nurturing or callous disposition.

In my opinion I would have to say Dr. Frankenstein is guilty because he should have given thought to how society would have perceived him when he started creating him. Whether people like it or not, Society always judges persons physical (do you mean social or moral?) characteristics by his or her physical appearance. In our society there is an unbreakable rule that must be followed in order to be accepted. Those who don’t fit the standard criteria of being normal are usually hated by the crowd and are banned for being different as Frankenstein’s monster was. When he ventured into town the children there shrieked at the sight of him and the women and men fainted at the sight of him. From that moment on he realized that people did not like his appearance and hated him because of it.

If Dr. Frankenstein and the villagers did not run away at the sight of him, then they might have actually enjoyed his personality. The creature Dr Frankenstein created tried to accomplish this when he encountered the D. Lacey family. The creature had hoped to gain friendship from the old man and eventually his children. He knew that it could have been possible because the old man was blind. He could not see the monster’s repulsive characteristics. But the children of the old man could see his characteristic features before the monster even had a chance to talk to the old man. The children were already back from there journey and all they saw was a monstrous creature next to there father attempting to do harm to the helpless old man. “Felix the old man son darted forward, and with supernatural forces tore [The creature] from his father” (129). Felix’s action caused great inner pain to the monster. He knew that his dream of living with them”happily ever after” would not happen. After that bitter moment the monster believed that “the human senses are insurmountable barrier to our union[with the monster]” (138} and with the delacey encounter still fresh in his mind along with his first encounter of humans, he declared war on the human race.

The hatred he felt towards humans originated from his experience with humans. In a way the monster started out with a child-like innocence that was eventually shattered by being constantly rejected by his father and society time after time. His first encounter with humans was when he opened his yellow eyes for the first time and witnessed Dr Frankenstein, his creator rushed out of the [laboratory]…”(56). This wouldn’t have happened if Dr. Frankenstein and society as a whole did not consider his physical appearance to be important. If physical appearance were not important then the monster would have had a chance of being accepted into the community with love and care. But society as a whole does believe physical appearance is important and it does influence the way people act towards each other.

Frankenstein should have made him less offending if even he, the creator, could not stand his disgusting appearance. There was a moment however when Frankenstein “….was moved ...” (139) by the creature.

He “…felt what the duties of a creator…” (97) were and decided that he had to make another creature, a companion for the original. But haunting images of his creation (from the monster’s first moment of life) gave him an instinctive feeling that the monster would do some thing badly with his companion, wreaking twice the havoc. Reoccurring images of painful originating from a first encounter could fill a person with hate and destruction as it did with the Dr. Frankenstein.

In conclusion, I believe Frankenstein is guilty because he never gave him a chance all he saw was a monster he should have never created. Instead of an innocent little boy who only wanted to be nurtured loved and cared for as any human being desires.

Frankenstein

This is an amazing story written about a young scientist, Dr. Frankenstein Victor, who was hasty to learn more about science and develop a new species. His plan was to defeat the agent that brings about the definitive end to the human body, which is death. He thought that, “If I could bestow animation upon lifeless matter, I might in process of time renew life where death had apparently devoted the body to corruption.” (40).

Frankenstein had created a creature in which he had not fully prepared for every behavioral character that the creature would display. One of the main failures Frankenstein made with the creation of this creature was its appearance which resembled that of a monster. The outward appearance of his face became the creature’s barrier from living with human beings. This barrier led to its loneliness. The creature had a real problem, where people treated him as a scary and disgusting creature. That is when he started to plan revenge against his creator.

Dr.Frankenstein was even afraid the first time he bestowed life for the creature. When he saw the monster after completing the laboratory work, he fled away of fear. He described his emotion as, “his yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black and flowing… his watery eyes, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips.” (43).Dr. Frankenstein should have confessed his dangerous laboratory work at this right moment, before crimes committed by the monster was late.

The creature was exiled in the wild where people couldn’t see him in the daytime and started to carry out his treacherous plan against Dr. Frankenstein. He negotiated with his creator for a female company, so at least he could live happily ever after. However Dr. Frankenstein the creator didn’t keep his promise. He was afraid of the possibility for the creation of more monstrous creatures from this union.

The creature was constantly trying to prove his behaviors how similar are with normal human being. In his exile time, the monster had experienced life of a family who have also a tragedy life .The monster was waiting his chance to talk with De Lacey.De laccey was a blind old man and a father of a son ,Felix ,and a daughter ,Agatha. The monster confronted De Lacey and admitted that, “I am unfortunate and deserted creature; I look around and I have no relaxation or friend upon earth… I am an outcast in the world forever.” (122). He was trying to win a confidence among people and gain there trust. Also to be accepted as a normal creature. However this did not work out the way the monster wanted it to. He was desperate to find a solution that was when he outraged and took out his anger.
Some of the crimes the monster committed were because of desperation and loneliness. Frankenstein lost his dearest members of his family, a friend and his beloved wife Elizabeth. When the monster murdered poor William then Justine was convicted of murder for what she didn’t commit, that was when also another moment for Dr.Frankenstein to confess the truth. The creature ruined his creator’s life.

Dr.Frankenstein did not try to deliberately create a monster. His experiment went wrong and he failed to succeed in his ambition to cheat death. The outcome was disaster and unexpected .He felt guilty about what he created, as it brought the wish that which he was trying to conquer. The creature was changed to monster and committed murder. Dr.Frankenstein is responsible for what the monster committed and he should be convicted of second degree murder.

You present a convincing argument that makes me sympathetic towards Dr. Frankenstein. I don't think this was your aim, but the evidence cited makes me feel sorry for him and not so much for the "monster" whose voice we never hear, and whose situation we don't actually see because you don't go into any depth about his troubles based on his horrible and scary appearance.

Grade: C because of all I said, plus there are too many errors in the sentax.

The Scary Creature Created by Dr. Frankenstein
Prepared by: Brandy Lokken

Dr. Frankenstein sure had an imagination. He imagined many things in life that were extremely out of the ordinary. He played many roles in his life such as a scientist, husband, father, and creature. He suddenly abandons his family life in order to create life into this creature. His main roles to the creature are scientist, parent and creature. Frankenstein was a scientist who creates a creature from body parts in his science laboratory. He eventually abandons his family on order to create life in his creature.

When Frankenstein was involved in his creation he was so caught up into his work, he realized he had done nothing else. He had no social life, and was hiding from the outside world. He was deprived himself from his sleep and health. He was really excited about his new creation. When Frankenstein’s creation first came to life he was immediately disgusted of his creation. Frankenstein ran away from his monster creation. The creature was abandoned for fend for him-self and learn on his own without guidance.

Dr. Frankenstein is guilty of creating a creature that created a murder known as second-degree murder. He created a monster that was ugly that no body would love. “So much has been done, exclaimed the soul of Frankenstein-more, far more, will I achieve treating in steps already marked, I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creating,” explained Dr. Frankenstein.

Although I believe Dr. Frankenstein is guilty for numerous things such as leaving his creation to fend himself, etc. Frankenstein didn’t show love to his creation, instead he ran away from it. His creation was alone in the world and had no friends to show kindness to or receive it from. Also he has no way of knowing how to react towards others, in meaning the creature had no guidance in life.

Frankenstein’s I believe can also be innocent in the creation of the monster, in many other ways including the deaths the monster created. I believe Frankenstein is innocent in the deaths the monster intended to do such as the monster killed William to get back revenge to Frankenstein.

Frankenstein tried finding ways to keep people from dying where he ended up finding a way to create life. Frankenstein was also innocent because he wasn’t able to teach his creation life lessons. His creature ended up killing people because he didn’t know the difference of right and wrong. Frankenstein and his monster in the end grew to love and hate with their relationship having many ups and downs.

Overall I feel pretty bad for the monster. Frankenstein brought the monster into life, and the monster was extremely ugly. When Frankenstein ran away from the monster, the monster tried creating friends. The people who ran into, “Monster,” where scared of him, and presumed he was dangerous and was out to kill and must be evil and dangerous. They either attack him or flee without giving him any chance to prove to them that he is a good and only wants to be their friend.

I do think overall that Frankenstein in guilty. Frankenstein created this mean
Creature and didn’t take care of it. Frankenstein was embarrassed of how ugly this monster looked and ended up abandoning it. I think Frankenstein is guilty because in the end the monster murders everyone that Frankenstein care’s about because of the way he was treated by humans. All the monster wanted was love from Frankenstein and the outside world.

Frankenstein is one of the most famous works by Mary Shelley. It is a Gothic horror novel stamped with the Romantic Movement. She created a main character with internal conflict, Victor Frankenstein, about the moral justice on the manlike creature he created. Initially, he felt fear about the hideous production of the monster. When the members of his family were hunted down one by one, he struggled to convince himself to be responsible for these consecutive deaths. He chased after the monster through Europe and the North Pole. Finally, He was overwhelmed by the fervency of chasing and ran into a kind of illusion state. After Victor's death, the monster showed up for forgiveness and disappeared after then. After reading the whole book, I must say Victor Frankenstein was guilty for many reasons.
Firstly, Victor strived to the research about the creation of life just for he wanted to prove his gift and ambition without the taking into account the moral and social impact. "…I thought that if I could bestow animation upon lifeless matter, I might in process of time (although I now found it impossible) renew life where death had apparently devoted the body to corruption." During one-year lab life, he even stopped responding to his warm Swiss family. When Victor completed his product, he found himself "…capable of bestowing animation upon lifeless matter" and felt equal with God. However, the result of his product turned out to a hideous and destructive monster, which had yellow eyes, translucent skin, black pupils, hair and lips and around 8 feet in height. This was the first time he needed to take the responsibility. However, he chose to flee into city where he met his best friend Henry Clerval. Victor immorally neglected his creature just like parents abandoned their new-born baby, which was the origin of the monster’s rage and revenge. After the disappearance of the monster, he took ill, another form of hiding out, for one year under the care of Henry.
Secondly, when he got the news that his younger brother William was murdered and Justine was treated as the suspect, he didn’t stand out to prove her innocent. Even he found the monster’s trace in the woods around the William’s death site and was sure the monster framed her. “My own agitation and anguish was extreme during the whole trial. I believed in her innocence; I knew it. Could the daemon, which had (I did not for a minute doubt) murdered my brother…” However, when Victor faced the second occasion he should take the responsibility, he chose to flee again. “I could not sustain the horror of my situation; and when I perceived that the popular voice, and the countenances of the judges, had already condemned my unhappy victim, I rushed out of the court in agony.” He feared to be condemned as the creator of the murderer and was driven to the deep sorrow and guilty. “Sleep fled from my eyes; I wandered like an evil spirit, for I had committed deeds of mischief beyond description horrible, and more, much more (I persuaded myself), was yet behind.”
Thirdly, Victor and the monster finally meet on the top of a mountain and had a hot debate. The monster told the story about his experience on rejection and hate. He confessed the crimes he committed and just asked for a female companion. Victor finished the female one and consequently destroyed her for he believed both monsters could lead to the irreversible destruction and refused to trust in the monster Frankenstein, which drove the monster fly into a rage. He stabbed the monster heavily with suspicion and cheating. "I do break my promise; never will I create another like yourself, equal in deformity and wickedness." He fled away from his responsibility again. Thus, the consequent murders turned into inevitable. The monster killed Henry, Victor's best friend, and his wife Elizabeth on Victor's wedding night. The consecutive deaths of those around him made him realize his fault to these tragedies. “I am the cause of this…William, Justine and Henry-they all died by my hands.” His life’s goal turned to hunt down the monster and kill him. He pursued the monster into the Arctic Ocean and pass away. He confessed his fault, hoped to be forgiven by the victims and thought the tranquility as the life’s goal. “…with what ecstasy shall I join my Elizabeth and my departed friends, who even now prepare for me the reward of my tedious toil and horrible pilgrimage.” However, all of these couldn’t bring back the victims’ lives.
Taking in about what we have talked about above, Victor Frankenstein is not only guilty for the creation of the killing monster but also for his selfishness. He always put his interest and feeling upon the value of other people. The selfish desire to gain reputation impel he created the monster. The selfish desire to prevent him from damage and trial leaded to the abandonment of monster and the death of William and Justine. The selfish desire to develop the equal trust in the monster caused more murders. The selfish desire evenly resulted in his self-ruin. The story about Victor and the monster tell us the importance of nurture besides the nature. Love and communication is the only way leading to the win-win resolution.
