I have been with Professor Sabir for three years; out of all my years of taking English classes I have learned the most from her. I love her teaching style, she knows her stuff. Some people say that Professor Sabir class is too hard, the last time I checked this was a college level class. I don’t maybe I’m mistaken. Get it together people this is not high school where you can slack off, if you are failing behind in your classes’ maybe you need to manage your time better. Yeah she can be cut throat at times it’s for you won good. Ms. Sabir is not one of those instructors that sugar coat. She will tell you like it is, knowing how she teach it is funny, because she is so real. I am behind in some of my work, but that is up to me to catch up. I love taking Professor Sabirs’ English class; it has helped me grow confident within my writing. Overall she is a great instructor. Those of you who don’t like her kick rocks!

So far this semester I feel that the class has been fair. Assignments given were not more than could be handled and you (Ms. Sabir) have been very lenient and helping at the same time. I feel that a sense of organization was lost here and there but overall I enjoyed the curriculum . Reading “Dreams” was the highlight of the class for me. The only suggestions I can make are that there be more “on the board notes” in regards to Pidd so that the rules and regulations of speech and writing being taught actually stick. Also, that when corrections to essays are given back there should be time in class to sit with you and have you explain the corrections needed to be made. Making sure (or pretending) that you are organized and on top of everything would give students a better feeling of being organized and on top of things as well.

I agree with ANOINTED. Professor Sabir is a professor in every sense of the word, plus she is really good people.Yes it is a lot of work or maybe a little more than we anticipated, but I have to agree that she has been very lenient and accessable. College is what we make it.I gotta handle my business as well. So on that note I'm going take advantage of the extra office hours available for us. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss my weak points and improve my grade. I honestly enjoyed learning in this class. Wish I could have Professor Sabir at the U.C. level too.

Yes Sabir is a good teacher she must have more organization then she'll become a great teacher. The people who aren't complaining about doing so many assignments are the students that either Unemployed or don't have a life. If you do Not have a child, your opinion doesn't count Point Blank Period so don't say anything about the class being an fair class. Iam a married woman with children and is currently Employed, that should tell you alot. I actually have a Life.

There have been times when I have shown up for class, with my work done, and other people in class did not have the books or materials ready to go. This is due to her failure to keep a consistent professor/student relationship with any of her students. Just because she's a good person doesn't make her a good teacher. She needs to uphold deadlines and hold people accountable to the work assigned. I work and attend school as a full time student. I do not have time to come in to office hours because A: we never went over the material assigned in class, due to people not having their work done, or B: for clarification on anything. I should know what I needs to do before I leave class and Ms Sabir should be accessible via email. There have been times where I, once again can not come in for office hours, have emailed her and never gotten a response from her.

A good teacher assigns assignments early with enough time for students to complete them and then collects the assignment when they are due. It is not fair to come to class with a final draft essay only to hear that we have an extension. I understand people are not just students for a living but at the same time when you do attend a UC or a CSU teachers will not care that you did not have time to complete this essay.

Also, I do not receive any form of financial aid and I feel like I have been cheated out of the full cost of the class, text books, and most importantly my time.

I understand that it must be hard for Ms. Sabir because her students are not engaged in her curriculum. However, she is keeping those students, who are ready to go, behind. This is not fair.

Finally, I would like to say that I have really enjoyed reading 'Dreams', working in Pidd (the book is actually really easy to do on your own, especially when there is no direction in class) and doing free writes. However, I felt the class was too unorganized. I felt as if we were trying to complete several projects at once, and now its the end of the year, we have not completed any and were struggling to try to complete them all.

Ms. Sabir, its nothing personal. But this class has given me more stress than taught me English. I hope this helps.

This is for the anonymous persons who said "don't be no punk tell Ms. Sabir how you feel. Well when you try to talk to her and she does not listen , then you need to talk to the dean. It is because of the dean that she posted this blog because the dean requested, it . It is a consequence when you are an instructor and not a teacher. Punk I'll never be, but when you ask the teacher a yes or no question and she gets confused the dean should be involved. So to those who think she a good teacher that is your opinion. Opinions are like assholes we all have one.

that's right..Its not about being a punk, its about the teacher doing her job..I'm not here to make friends with my instructors I'm here to gain the skills I need to prepare me for my future. If your here to make friends with instructors good luck with that...try an aim for recieving A's or B's instead of being friends with your instructors sucking up, do your work and focus on being sucessful that way you will not be considered a "punk." Of course the dean need to know what's going on in classrooms, so that was a good thing students talked to him about sabir.

I think the main situation is on how much work she gives out at once. It was just last week when we should be preparing for finals, Sabir still assigned two Stewart Pidd's essay: the parallel structure and the Bad Granny when she know most students are still working on their research paper. She is very unorganize and most of the time I wistnessed how mean she was to Chris. Her unappropriate language as a professor calling Chris annoying was obviously rude. Most students may agree to that but as a professor, she must help the students no matter what.In the beginning of the class year, Sabir said itherself that she only favors certain students due to their efforts. I understand that but you're a professor!! How can you say that or even by thinking about that!!?? It's obvious that she favor certain students. I believe everyone put full efforts in your class. I don't understand why many of you are calling those who are anonymous "punk" and and asking them to step up for themselves. Ms. Sabir did mention we should/can share with her anonymously.

Your not a punk if you want to remain anonymous first of all. I feel as if this is the most unorganized class i have ever taken. I feel as if most of the things we have done such as Pidd book are useless. If you did not know any of the skills that were in that book then honestly you should not even be in this class!. Just look at how many people ended up staying till the end of the semester!! If that is not saying something in itself then i don't know what is.

I feel i have gained nothing at all out of this class. The only positive thing was reading "Dreams" apart from that this class has been a waste of time!
