Extra Credit Cyber-Assignment

Reflect on the WAR which has it's anniversary this weekend.

Do you remember the shock and awe campaign seven years ago? it looked like July 4th at Jack London Square, the only thing was, these were bombs and no one was celebrating.

I find it pretty astonishing that the war in Iraq has been going strong since 2003. This was the first war in the 21st century and with this much technology media has kept the war pretty much under wraps without much public coverage. The war became part of the norm. These past seven years have been times of hardships for many families that are fighting this war based on lies and inaccurate information from the Bush administration. The war has been a failure in my eyes, without much being accomplished in Iraq. The country is still under ruins and democracy has not been established within the country even after seven years of occupation. Supposedly the Obama administration is getting ready to bring the soldiers home later this year. And history shows us that when the United States finishes with a war it creates many benefits for its citizens and the country. If history is any indication of what usually occurs after a war this will be the beginning of the biggest economic expansion in the history of the United States. All signs are beginning to point towards the beginning of this economic expansion.

The war in the Middle East is something that was started during the wonderful President Bush's term. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have cost the United States over 973 billion dollars. (Iraq: 713 billion dollars; Afghanistan: 260 billion dollars). This all encompasses money that we do not have, have borrowed, and will have to payback somehow. Also, with that cost has come lives of dedicated family men and women that have served, and many of whom have been killed in combat. Lives of people that will never return to their families, and families that will go without their loved ones. This war has had a large effect on many American families, and will never be the same. Even though the plan is to bring troops out of harms way, more and more troops are being flown over seas to fight.
This war that was initiated by the former president, George W. Bush, has now been left to our current president, Barack Obama, to handle and hopefully bring to an end soon. It is a very large task, however, many believe he can accomplish it. Everyone is ready for the war o end, and the violence to cease, so that we can focus on the many other problems that the country is going through.

War in the Middle East
I remember the morning when the two planes flew into the World Trade Center, not the exact moment, but waking up to it all over the news. I was getting ready for school, 7th grade, and I didn’t quite understand why it was such a big deal, I thought just another plane crashed. When I got to school, some kids were freaking out because their parents worked in San Francisco around the Bank of America Building, and the news was saying that other buildings in the United States were at risk. I still didn’t fully understand why it was such a big deal. After I had gone home and talked about it with my family I understood that it was an attack against the United States, from the Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. I followed the news and the U.S. had said that there were weapons of mass destruction in Afghanistan that they needed to go and get to keep the country safe; soon after American troops were rallied and sent overseas and a war began. After there were no weapons of mass destruction found, it seemed like the U.S. needed a reason to stay, so then we were looking for Usama Bin Laden, and somehow turned into freeing the Iraqis and now, I don’t even know why we still have troops over there.
I feel so greatly for families that have lost children and family members to a war that seems to have no purpose and no end. It started with President Bush and has now continued with President Obama, who has promised to get them out, but in order to do that we needed to send more troops over. I hope that it will be over soon. I haven’t lost anyone to the war, but I know some families who have and some who have boys over there now and are heart sick to think that they won’t come home. I have had some close calls; some friends who signed up for the military but luckily never got called.
Besides feeling for the families here, I feel more for the people in the countries we are at and have been. Their country was invaded and has been put through terror, for a reason they probably don’t even know. Now we, the United States, look like the enemy. Some people got good from it, but what followed that good was more terror. I hope that the war will soon end, and once it ends, we can do the right thing as a country and help rebuild the countries we tore down.

Shooting people never gets old. Some people arn't satisfied with videogames so they go to war. Smart people do it for profit.

Let them, fight it out. I don't care. It keeps our homocidal killer over seas, and our underprivliaged citizens employed. I'm not concerned about the loss of life, and I can't change the politics, so why bother.

Rambo made war cool. Speaking of Women Hold Up half the Sky and war reminds me of Rambo 4. It's about missionarys going into war torn Bhurma. They were nieve and stupid just like the authors of this book.

The plot was about some workers thinking nothing will happen to them. But they get caught in a raid nd taken to the prision camps. It's up to Rambo to save them before they all get raped and killed.

It's a good movie. It also show what happens when Women Hold Up Half the Sky goes wrong, but Rambo makes it all better with his 50 caliber machine gun.

War protest

I agree with what the protesters were saying. I think, especially now, how the shape the economy is in, that the U.S. is putting way too much money into a war that has no benefit to us. I don't understand why the U.S. would want to use the our tax money, and put it into a war that we never agreed on. I thought that this was a democratic society. They have spent trillions upon trillions of dollars on the war and helping that country rebuild their social structure while, over in the U.S., we are experiencing a massive economic downfall. In my mind, I thought that the reason why we have (had) a democratic society is so that the people can get what they needed in a continually changing society. Right now, we need that money desperately to go towards education and stabilizing the economy. People should have noticed that, within the past couple years, we have had no control or say over these matters and I really hope that Obama can "change" the current American mindset on this issue.

Reflect on War protest
I think that the United States should get out of the war. It is not good for the next generation. We are spending too much money on the war.We should spend the money on Education, Health Care etc. Because of the War some countries hate America. I thought that America was suppose to be a good country. Every one want the war to end now. We are just sitting at home doing nothing about it except talkig. Think about the people who are suffering and have already lost their family members and many kids are Orphans. We need to stop the war for the better result of America and other countries.

Extra Credit: War

War on Terror or War for Greed?

There have been many wars fought since the beginning of time. Many are fought for land, others for freedom, and others for terror. War is sometimes needed but never wanted. Many people have different point of views on war; some may be against the war, others may not. This weekend marked the anniversary of the war. A war that has been depressing for many, but has brought change to others.

Some people do support the war. This is a very unusual case. President Bush decided to start the war which seven years later is still going on. Many Americans support his decision. While in War, they took down Sadam Hussein and brought more control into other countries. They were able to take down a person who was not suited for running a country. Many Americans believe that while there are troops in the middle east we are fighting against terror and that brings peace to Americans. They believe that they are controlling the enemy and that helps them feel more safe at home. The idea of having troops in the Middle East brings peace to some people, but it also brings more conflict to the rest of the world.

Many Americans don't believe the war is right. A lot of people blame the Bush administration for wasting billions of dollars in a war that they believe shouldn't be going on in the first place. Not only do the troops have to suffer, but also their families. Once they agree to enter the military, they are forced to go to war even if they do not choose to. A recent story showed up in the news where a girl that gave birth was called from the military and said that she was needed in Iraq. She said that she did not want to go since she barely delivered a baby. The military wanted to imprison her for not wanting to obey their command. The trial is still going. War not only bring death to many young Americans, but it also claims the lives of people from the Middle East. Not everyone are terrorist and bombs don't have names on them. They may hit the wrong person and bring death to women and children by accident.

The Obama administration said they were going to bring the troops home. Although some have made it home, there are still a lot of soldiers in the Middle East who are dying. In my opinion, people should practice peace before beginning a war. The war that got started by the Bush administration was more for greed than to fight terrorism. My opinion, OPEN YOUR EYES AND STOP THE WAR ASAP!

I believe the whole thing of the war being put together was stupid in the first place. I do not believe that Bush should of put it together. A few years ago today, U.S. armed forces and a coalition of allies invaded Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction and aiming to depose dictator Saddam Hussein in a major attack in the war on terrorism. Saddam was deposed, later tried and hanged for war crimes. There were no weapons of mass destruction found and U.S. troops have become mired in a running battle with various insurgent groups as the fledgling Iraqi government tried to unite a restive population. Meanwhile, the number of American military casualties was rising and many saw no end to the fighting.

To me honestley I sometime forget that we the USA was at war. I feel like I don't even remeber why it all started for. It seems like the media wants us the people of the USA not to feel or know what is going on in the Middle East because they don't want us to know who is the bad guy. Which is us in this case I feel. The government is doing really good to distract what is really going on over seas with our soldiers and those inicent people we kill. To sit here and try to remember something terrible like when the war started I would rather not, because I feel what Bush wanted was not a good enough reason to sacrifies love ones.

The war in Iraq has been going on for most of my teenage years. I never thought in a million years that it would still be going on after seven years. I think that the most important fact out of all these statistics that the government and media have put forth is that we never found Osama Bin Laden. We went from trying to get Osama in Afghanistan to moving on to Saddam. What got me the most was the fact that people seemed as though it was common knowledge that this is where we were supposed to go, but in Iraq we never found any weapons of mass destruction, and the American public never got to see an interview with Saddam, because he was hung before anyone could really talk to him. I believe in my mind that the whole 911 terrorist attacks were preventable if not planned by the Bush administration, I say this because there was really no reason to go into Iraq except for oil, but the only way for America to go to War is if there was a attack, much like pearl harbor to unite Americans in a war effort, so that Bush and his administration wouldn’t have to much resistance. The American public is pretty much clueless to what is really going on. It seems to me as though there isn’t a war, I am pretty much over the shock but I still find myself getting surprised when I talk to veterans of this war, it brings me back to reality and I realize that America is still at war.

I can remember when the last Bush was president; he said that we the American people were going to war with Iraq after the towers were attacked. His excuse was as if the attackers were Iraqi soldiers. Even though the American public was informed by Bush’s companions that this was a terrorist act and this act was done by al Qaeda which is a terrorist organization lead by Osama Bin Laden. The only way we knew this information was by the hands of our brilliant former Presidents council members. Who were we attacking again and why? Didn’t you guys just inform us that we were attacked by terrorist from Saudi Arabia? Wow! Where do we find truth? That question has been answered by time. Truth is we should not have gone by this war the way we did, us the American people are as responsible as our leaders our for buying into their fear tactics, if there’s a next time maybe we won’t react so quickly to our governments decisions.

I can't believe that it's been 7yrs since the start of the war. It's astonishing to me that it's been going for so long and nothing has been established by doing so. It's beyond my knowledge of why such a horrid thing is happening still. From where I'm sitting, nothing is being conquered or compromised. I see no point. I can only wish that the President comes through with his word and takes our troops out of the war and safely back in their homes.

I don't like the idea of war because most of it is pointless. It just show how more of a country is a bully. Since the beginning of the war seven years ago I was scared that it will a World War 3. I remember when the Twin Towers fall and just movie clips and shows about what had happen. We didn't go to school for a couple of days. I guess that the war in Iraq wont stop because of oil. I still see a lot of protesters around my house and campaign against it. I also remember when people racially discriminate "the people with the head wrap" as people called them walking past them. I don't think Middle Eastern people are bad at all I have quite few friends who are and are cool people. I also think that with war comes with racism and different races will profile on anyone. Hopefully this insanity will stop

There is a Vietnamese proverb saying that “ Them ban bot thu” . The proverb means it is good to have more friends and fewer competitors. Therefore, I against wars because at the end of a war, both winners and losers get loss. The big loss in wars is many people death, so I think that the war in Middle East should end. American citizens, Afghanistan citizens and Iraq citizens need peace to fight for other issues such as poverty and diseases. Especially now we have to fight the economic downturn.

I agree with the message that was said at the protest, and I agree with all the other comments. It is truly a sad day when the American taxpayers have to follow a government that is slowly causing their downfall. This war is a stupid, and it is affecting the taxpayers very hard. We are currently faced with one of the worst depression in American history. And instead of pulling of the war, we are still trying to fight it. We are basically fighting this war because of our reputation, the government does not want to exit the war and look weak. But the problem with this, while they are protecting their reputation, the American people are suffering and losing jobs. The job of the government is to protect their citizens, but we are currently seeing that the government is crushing its citizens with the burden of this war. I wish that this war would just end, this have affected so many people and devastated so many lives. And when you think of the money that goes into this war every year, this is too much money wasted. This need to change. And in addition, there are a lot of people losing their lives every day. The faster we get out of this war, the faster America will prosper.

When I think of how long the war been going on for, it makes me sad. All you find out and hear that people are dieing or injured. There’s no point of having a war because you don’t get nothing out of it. Everybody should be peaceful.
