Ceasar Chavez Quote
The quote that I chose is the following; “From the depth of need and despair, people can work together, can organize themselves to solve their own problems and fill their own needs with dignity and strength.” I chose that quote because I feel that no matter what kind of situation two people are in, they have to find some common ground between the two in order to solve their own problems. I feel that as human beings, We strive to fill or own needs and accomplish or goals. But without the help of others there’s no way we can achieve our goals.

Quote: “You are never strong enough that you don't need help.”
This quote is completely true. Those who think they do not need help are the ones who need help the most. There is always room for improvement because no one and nothing is perfect. Although a person may be strong mentally and physically, that does not mean they do not need help. Those who ask for help are the most successful because they have the outside perspective and can improve their work.

"Our language is the reflection of ourselves. A language is an exact reflection of the character and growth of its speakers." -Cesar Chavez
In college, this quote can not hold more truth. This is a time where we, as students, try to find our voice in this world, our purpose. As a writer, language is one of the tools I have to express myself and is vital for my communication with others. Musicians have a language of their own; through notes and chords they are able to relate to each other.
Everyone has a type of language. Biology, philosophy, psychology, politics, business, every school subject has their own terminology that only their people understand. It is up to the person to study the nomenclature of their profession and communicate with others through the known language. It is the only thing we humans have to express ourselves!

“Preservation of one's own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures.”
This quotation by Cesar Chavez really exemplifies how I feel on this subject. Because everyone is trying to convert people into their own cultures and religions. Why can't people be happy with their own cultures and leave everyone else alone? People come knocking at my door or calling me on the phone all the time trying to 'convert' me. I don't like it, I do not like it at all. I want to be left alone from these scavengers. If I was interested in your practices then I would show some interest and look into it myself. I think that people become supercilious wen religion comes up and tries to downplay other cultures and religions. It is okay to be nationalistic, but to be arrogant in thinking that everyone is interested in uprooting past and taking up new culture or practices is annoying. Be prideful, and be respectful. Not everyone believes in the same thing!

Reflection on Cesar Chavez
To be a man of peace, one must be patient and willing to sacrifice your life to non violent work. Cesar Chavez is a man of peace because he believed that bloodshed is not the solution to win a battle. “Non-violence is not inaction. It is not discussion. It is not for the timid or weak... Non-violence is hard work. It is the willingness to sacrifice. It is the patience to win.”
Non-violent protests is something that is far more difficult than waging war against people whom you have problems with. Although it takes a lot of time before something is done, the result is far better than having thousands of people die.

Quote: “The fight is never about grapes or lettuce. It is always about people”-Cezar Chavez
This qoute is explaing what Cezar Chavez is fighting for. He is stating what he is argueing and fighting for is not about the food or the pay but about the working conditions for the people. He was a civil rights labor force activist and fought for better working conditions for the labor force. The “people” he is referring to in his poem is the labor force. I chose this qoute because It stood out me because he is stating what he is fighting for.
Question: What does it mean to be a man of peace?
To be a man of peace means to stand up and represent what you are fighting for. It means to be a leader in some ways and others to speak up for what is not right. A man of peace help others and advocate what he/ she believes in.

Caesar Chavez Quote
The quote I choose was “We draw our strength from the very despair in which we have been forced to live. We shall endure.” I also believe in this quote myself. I think that when someone goes through tough times they gain some strength along the way. Caesar Chavez went through a lot of obstacles in his life but he also became a powerful figure in the world. So I believe the quote is completely true.

Caesar Chavez Quote
“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.”
To me this quote simply means when we look for achievement we cannot forget about where we came from. when success come its not through what we have done ourselves but who has helped us get there. We must acknowledge others and let them join in on the success.

Quote: “Dr. King was also radical in his beliefs about violence. He learned how to successfully fight hatred and violence with the unstoppable power of nonviolence. He once stopped an armed mob, saying: 'We are not advocating violence. We want to love our enemies. I want you to love our enemies. Be good to them. This is what we live by. We must meet hate with love.'”
-Cesar Chavez
Cesar Chavez was a man of great wisdom. He believed that non violence was a way to achieve more rights for farm workers. He used the same values as Dr. King as well as Gandhi. He was a man of peace and great courage.

Quote from Cesar Chavez:
“Non-violence is not inaction. It is not discussion. It is not for the timid or weak... Non-violence is hard work. It is the willingness to sacrifice. It is the patience to win.”
This quote is very profound. It's far too often that people perceive non-violence as the cowardice way of going about things, but little do they realize that it is truly the most courageous way to stand your ground for what you believe in. Whether you're a Christian, or you just love the teachings of Ghandi, it can be agreed upon that the people that truly made their mark in the world were those who did so non-violently. We should all take this quote to heart, and remember it the next time we're tempted to take action violently, whether it be physically or verbally. Be true to yourself.

Cesar Chavez Reflection
In the quotes by Caser Chavez, “Real education should consist of drawing the goodness and the best out of our own students. What better books can there be than the book of humanity?” I think what he is trying to say is that we should try to encourage and bring out the best in students instead of drilling answers into their heads and destroying their creativity. I agree that I do not like how our current education system destroys creativity in young people.
As a man of peace who was the loud voice for those who were afraid to speak out because of retaliation. He advocated for the rights of the farm workers in the U.S., and issues he was fighting for are still around. It is a true leader who he symbolizes an individual who saw terrible working conditions and worked tirelessly to make a change, not only for his family but for countless others.

"Our lives are all that really belong to us, so it is how we use our lives that determines what kind of men we are"
— Cesar Chavez
These words were spoken by a great man that believed in peace throughout his community and the world. Cesar Chavez was a great Latino civil rights activist who promoted the American labor movement. With this quote I felt compelled to write a response. I am a true believer, that we are all given this life and it is up to the individual to fulfill their purpose, dreams, and goals. The approach in which one takes in fulfilling their life’s mission is completely up to the person. Yet, we should all remember that the things that we take part in build the person that we are. The building of character begins in the first 6-10 years of life and the rest is up to the individual and the opportunities the individual is given.

The quotes by Caser Chavez,“Perhaps we can bring the day when children will learn from their earliest days that being fully man and fully woman means to give one’s life to the liberation of the brother who suffers. It is up to each one of us. It won’t happen unless we decide to user our lives to show the way.”
It show me if you wanna to being fully man and fully woman, you should have your own responsibility to show the way that you live and everyone should learn how to being a real fully man and fully woman.

“Students must have initiative; they should not be mere imitators. They must learn to think and act for themselves - and be free.” This quote was made just for me at this point in time. I, as many students must, feel that I am at a transition point that is hard to surpass: growing up. It is hard to pass from complete dependence into independence. Learning that there will not always be someone there to hold your hand through every decision is hard to grasp. I am at this place in life, and have been since 16, so reading this quote has been a much-needed smack in the face.
“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.” I also like this quote, as I have liked most of Mr. Chavez’ quotes. It completely defines what a “man of peace” is. Compassion is a component of peace. This quote inspired my compassion. The world often views compassion, or anything similar, as not so good. When a person cares for everyone else it is not “healthy.” Mr. Chavez confirmed my own belief that we should care for the progression of everyone around us, as well as ourselves. He speaks very powerfully.

Cesar Chavez was a great man. He was basically a Mexican Martin Luther King. He fought to provide a fair union and pay for crop workers. As people my know that they really don’t gain much money. But one year the farm owners all decided to cut their pay even more and that was what made Cesar Chavez start the UFW movement against the pay cuts. Cesar Chavez wanted his people to have a fair pay rate and its own successful union. Chavez was known for his anti-violence protests. He protested by boycotts, strikes, and fasting.
“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.”(Cesar Chavez).
This quote really made me think because it is really true. Sometimes people are stuck thinking what is best for them selves and they forget about the people around them. I think if you want to have a good life and be successful you need to help other people have a good life and be successful too.

”In some cases non-violence requires more militancy than violence.”
-Cesar Chavez
To be a man of peace one must maintain peace and stay true to non violence when attempting to achieve any major change. Cesar Chavez was a Latin American Activist who fought for rights of other Latin immigrants who were subjected to harsh work and living conditions but paid very little. He practiced non violence to achieve his goals. The quote above expresses that it is sometimes hard to be non violent. Cesar Chavez was a great man. He was a man of peace and great will.

“Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore. We have seen the future, and the future is ours.”
This quote is very inspirational to me because I can tell it came from the heart. This quote is true in many ways because no one ever thinks about how social changes can affect someone’s life. As he said “social change cannot be reversed.” I never thought about change in that sense before. I found the examples he presented very interesting.
Before I found this quote I had no idea who Cesar Chavez was, but after I starting searching him, I found that he was a wise man with an open mind. I found many quotes from him; it was hard for me to choose just one.

Cesar Chavez Reflection
Today is the birthday of Cesar Chavez, a civil rights activist. He founded the National Farm Workers Association. Today his name is in the same vein with such major activists like Martin Luther King and Gandhi. His actions made a big difference and improved lives of farm workers.
Some of his quotes are very popular today. He said once, “We need to help students and parents cherish and preserve the ethnic and cultural diversity that nourishes and strengthens this community - and this nation.” This statement represents the life of the community in our state. California has the most diverse population in the United States. This was the main reason why I moved here. I love being surrounded by people from all over the world. Really, you can meet people from anywhere. I believe that it brings the community great benefits. Every culture carries its own traditions, they are unique. It makes life here much more interesting. California is also the main place in the world where different nationalities and religions exist next to each other, and respect each other. I think that the rest of the world should take it as an example.

Cesar Chavez, a Human Rights activist, through this quote expresed the feeling of the majority of illegal immigrants, "Because we have suffered, and we are not afraid to suffer in order to survive, we are ready to give up everything - even our lives - in our struggle for justice." He talks about the illegal immigrants who left everything in their homeland, their families, their friends, and in many cases even their freedom by crossing the U.S. border. Although it seems absurd they were willing to die in order to seek a better life for their families.
Cesar Chavez was a man who sought social justice for his brothers, the immigrants in oppression. His message was that it cannot be peace without justice.

"Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducated the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore. We have seen the future, and the future is ours." Cesar Chavez
This quote made me think about the book Half the Sky, where most of the woman were uneducated and oppressed by men. Once a person is educated everything changes, they see the world with a new prospective, they are respected and seen with different eyes as Chavez perfectly said "You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore." That's why education is such a key element for empowerment and growth in our society.

“If you really want to make a friend, go to someone's house and eat with him...The people who give you their food give you their heart.”
-Cesar Chavez
I think this quote is impotant because he was a leader in the for the rights of farm workers, and obviously all food is grown. It also shows what kind of a person he was. Iam hispanic and in my culture you don't really invite people to your house to eat unless they really are a good friend or someone you really care about. So if you invite someone to come over to your house and eat with you you know that they are somesone that you really care about.

Cesar Chavez Reflection
"Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot un-educate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore.” – Cesar Chavez
The above quotation by Cesar Chavez shows that words can be very powerful and meaningful. Cesar Chavez has never been so correct and inspirational in his words that he states above in that good and positive things cannot be reversed. Cesar Chavez was a leader and motivational role model not only for Latin Americans, but to all oppressed people. He has uplifted many and created change that has affected the world. This quotation should be instilled as a belief and natural way of thinking.

When I read this quote, it reminds the people who is living in rural part of Ethiopia. Once they leave their village and come to the city, they do not want to go back. Once they start going to school, they do not quit and get "A" most of the time. The reason why they do that is, once they are enlightened by what they see, they determine their future. For the people just like me, we should look forward to see our future instead of listening what other said to discourage us. If we do that, we will win our future.
