Today in class we continued to read each other's essays. Yesterday we read  the Dyson essay. Today we will continue and read a classmate's entire body of work from this semester: On Respect Essay, Afeni Essay, the essay from Hurt's film and the already completed and graded Dyson essay.

Write another narrative and reflect on what the writer does well. Note the stylistic devices used. Discuss the writer's style, form, diction, voice, structure--literary devices. If you can name it, but notice something copy and paste it and talk about what you like about it.

Read and take notes and then write after you have read everything.

2. Post the freewrite using Topical Invention in the October 25 post.

3. I looked at the wrong class's due dates for The Book Report Essay. It is actually due next week, Wednesday, Nov. 7. Let's say the IPS will be due next week, the essay due the following week. We will talk about it tomorrow.

Book Report Presentations are next week though.

Destiny
Destiny as known can come as a dream or aspiration or desire which one will always search for as quoted in line1 that “ I know not what I search 4”. This indicates that there is a passion for something but which is not cleared until achieved. One will normally search for it continuously until attained as stated in line 2. In some part of the world, it is believed that destiny is what everyone my fulfill under any circumstance because it is believed that God orchestrate every destiny and that it cannot be changed or altered.
He saying “and if by chance I find it, will I know my mission is achieved?” (line3, 4) is also going with the believe quoted above though he might not be aware of that. He knows there is a purpose which he is planning to achieve though it might not be fully designed. But there is a push going with that which is directing and leading him to it. It is also assumed that nobody knows anyone’s destiny except our maker, God and that is why he said ‘just as no one knows what lies beyond the shore” (line10, 11). He is trying to show the supremacy of God as He is the only one that knows us and his plan for us and what He has destined for us.

What It Is That I Search 4
I would define this poem as one of faith or destiny. Faith is defined as a firm belief in something for which there is no proof according to the Merriam Webster dictionary. In this poem Tupac simply explains his thoughts and feelings about how believes that he will never truly understand what it is that he is searching for, but he knows that he will find some type of love in due time. At this point of his life he can’t even imagine who or how he will find love, but with faith he will. However in this poem he also states “And if by chance I find it, Will I know my mission is achieved?” that even when he finds whatever it is that he is looking for that he doesn’t know if his mission will be achieved yet. (line 5,6) I can attest to this poem a lot, because I too feel the same and really don’t know when I will find what it is that I am searching for and if I too will have achieved my mission.

Fate and Faith
In the poem What It Is That I Research For, I found two very important words “Fate and Faith” which can respect the main idea that Tupac wanted to express. In the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of fate is “the will or principle or determining cause by which things in general are believed to come to be as they are or events to happen as they do” and faith is “something that is believed especially with strong conviction”. For me, the fate is something I must experience and the faith is a strong belief to insist doing something.
The author said “and if by chance I find it, will I know my mission is achieved?” (line3, 4) this question express Tupac`s vacant under the fate. Even if he achieved, he did not realize it. At the end he showed us his faith that he believe God know each of us and orchestrate us a best way, ‘just as no one knows what lies beyond the shore” (line10, 11)
