Additional Assignments with no extensions to post
I forgot to put an extension last week for students to post their freewrites for the Nas song: We're Not Alone," so post it here.

Also, I forgot to create an extension for the freewrite on Literature Circles, so post that here also. The freewrite on Lit Circles considered of your reflections on the process. In case you haven't noticed my pedagogy is based on the reflective teaching model, where we think about what we do, and write about it so that we can improve based on what we learn in the process of doing.

I understand were Nas is coming from after so many years of evolution were still labeled, grouped, struggling just to get by when it should be simply. Where all humans, flesh and bones it would be so simple to unite instead of looking out for ourselves. My favorite part was the chorus where not alone nobody is an island, out with the old in with the new.

I am so glad that i listened to this song. It really hit home. We should all unite and stop being divided.

The first part is talking about living in the last days. And where we all came from how evolution was started and now it is about to be over. Everything that was prophecized is coming to pass you can see it in the weather i.e. Hurricanes, Earthquakes

Scientists keep on messing with mother nature and we are all going to be in trouble.

Nas part was reflecting on how he used to worship the streets until he once picked up a book and opened up his mind and filled himself with knowledge that he is more than just a nigga. He can be whatever he wants to be. But he has not forgot where he has came from he still hangs with the fellas.
Nas is still making the point that we all are expanding out of the ghetto to the better neighborhoods to raise our family so watch out we are all there and not just in the ghetto anymore. Don't be scared we deserve it. And now that we are getting our time to shine the man wants to try and take it from us. Nas is steadily preaching that we need to stick together and fight back and raise our kids with dignity and pride.

Nas also talks about that there is life beyond this earth. They are making movies about it. For example I am Legend with Will Smith. There is life beyond this planet earth.

Nas lyrics in this song is very inspirational if you take the time out to listen to it. I am not a big Nas fan but I am glad that i took the time out to listen to this track. Because he kicked alot of knowledge that people need to hear.

Reflection on the Literature Circle Experience:

I find that the group literature experience was quite rewarding because it afforded us the opportunity to gain insight on the points of views and interpretations of our peers. It is interesting how conjugating our thoughts and ideas amongst one another can potentially help someone who may need a bit more clarity. As with our group, there was a student who didn't quite understand a passage in the Chang book, but in listening to another classmates' paraphrase was able to then decipher the context of the reading into their own words. The way that each individual interprets and understands the material is all differing - therefore, it proves to be necessary that we formulate our thoughts and ideas collectively. I would strongly suggest that we orchestrate these groups on a more consistent basis, especially in light of the problems that have been presented in reference to Dyson.

"Were Not Alone" is a song by Nas and this song should be heard by everyone because his lyrics are trying to bring everyone of every race together as one nation. Nas does not want any hatred because life is too precious and should be cherished every moment. There are people who think that they are alone and with this song, it is calling out to those who are feeling that way.

"We are Not Alone"

The message in which rapper Nas is trying to get across is clear. We are all one, not divided in the way that society relentlessly infringes upon us. In a World of classism, racism, sexism, prejudices, and biases, the one key element that is lacking is the fact that even in spite of our differences, we are all still the human race (one in the same). Therefore, perhaps we need to start acting accordingly. It is my strong belief that if we work together simultaneously as a human race, we would gain the ability to move mountains. Without it, our world will remain in its current state of despair; Hence the reasoning behind global warming, massive wars, devastating poverty, and escalating violence. What the human race fails to realize is that by not work in conjunction with one another, we are literally self-destructing.

I finally listened to the song We Are Not Alone by Nas again to really understand what he was saying. The nessage is that no matter where you are even if you come from different social classes that you are not alone everybody is going throug their own struggle. To me He says lets start paying attention to the bigger things instead of letting the little things divide us. I think everyone should listen to this song at some point.

nas speaks about many different problems or things that go on. but mostly his message is that everyone goes through things, not only one person is alone in what struggles you go through.he talks about how everyone wants to get paid and compares bob johnson and warren buffet, both of whom are wealthypeople, one is white and one is black. but it is assumed that the black one, had to go through more to get the money he has and the white one was just given the money
