Today student presentations were outstanding beginning with Ashley's followed by our only team left: Queyn, Matthew, Irene, Khalid, Esther. Tomorrow we'll hear from the remaining students. Please post your feedback here for the presenters. Presenters, please reflect on your presentation and post them here also. Students can also post their homework responses to one of the three handouts: Public Enemy's "Fight the Power," NWA's "Gangsta Gangsta," or the song "Self-Destruction" featuring KRS-One, MC Lyte, Kool Moe Dee, MC Delight, D-Nice, Ms. Melodie, Doug E. Fresh, Just-Ice, Heavy D, Fruitwan, and Flavor Flav.

For the second presentation, I think thye award for longest goes to them: We got out of the class after 1 p.m. The presentation was very well structured technically; although all aspects of the presentation were not audible. The concluding montage of images connecting the concerns and values and problems hip hop confronts and is trying to resolve as a global issue was quite powerful. A rehearsal to practice the more difficult names, finalize technical needs -- I could have gotten a microphone for the presenters if asked in advance. Also, the presenters noticed typos as they read the from the PowerPoint documents.

I noticed that students dis not challenge Chang's interpretation of events even those clearly controversial such as the incident with Rev. Jesse Jackson which cost him his chance at the White House. Someone mentioned or stated that the Jews were oppressed...not in America they aren't. Jews own Hollywood and most of the major news outlets, which means the images used to control popular thought are theirs to create and manipulate. The Jewish block is rich and powerful and influences what happens in the White House. Think about this every time you drink a cup of coffee at Starbucks and consider for just a moment the Apartheid wall going up in Palestine.

Today I enjoyed both of the presentations. No one should be scrutinized because of technical difficulties. It is hard enough getting up there and presenting.

Both groups did a wonderful job as to putting their presentations together. The second group had outstanding graphics. Maybe they should have used a microphone because alot of people are shy and do not speak very loudly. But overall they did a wonderful job with what they were working with. The pictures and youtube videos were a good idea to enhance the presentation.

I am glad to see that at least one group stuck together.

CE
Also I am glad that OBAMA won and hopefully we as blacks can start to get what we deserve and had coming for along time.

I'm sorry if i offended anyone about voting I can't vote for personal reasons. But he did great anyway!!!!!!

During my group's presentation yesterday, I was so nervous because I didn't want anything to go wrong. Even though there were some mistakes on techniques as same as our voices, I think it was a great day. I hope you enjoyed our presentation.

For the slides about Larry Davis, we didn't make it clear for you so I want to put it here so people could understand more about it. He was a rapper from South Bronx and he was also a victim of racism as many other African Americans. He was one of the biggest images against racism.

Yesterday I watched the "Obama Acceptance Speech" on Youtube because I didn't have a chance to watch it last Tuesday. His speech promises a lot of good things. He deserves to win. I'm glad that he won the election. I hope that he'd make the U.S.A better as he said he would. I'm looking forward to what he would do during his term. Hope everything would work out well. ^ ^ ... OBAMA-BIDEN -08.

P/S: I like his family. They are happy together, especially his wife. :)

The election of senator Barack Obama will prove to be a momentous occasion in American history. For the first time we have a TRUE American leading this country: a multi-racial intellectual. Contrary to what many people believe Barack Obama isn't primarily black. He is a wonderous patchwork of white, black, south east asian and hispanic. Along with his policies I feel this country will soon see a return to normalcy. For too long have Americans been afraid to accept socialist policies, but after this recession, I have a feeling even the most diehard supporters of capitalism will be reevaluating the economic system which currently has all classes accept for the upper class suffering. Perhaps the international community will take heed of the strides we have made towards racial equality and change their perception of what the United States has become over the last 8 years. It feels like an era of ill-will and benign neglect has washed over us. In his speech Obama asked that we all cooperate in order to get this nation back on track. This idealogy of cooperation, unity and change will reestablish this country as an ethic and moral leader in the global spectrum. I can honestly say for the first time in nearly a decade that I am proud to be an American and look forward to this nation's bright future.

I liked Ashley's brief, yet insightful presentation. Some of the occurrences, like the situation with Jesse Jackson, and the battle amongst the Korean's and African-American's were quite informative.

In the group presentation, you could clearly see that the presentation was thoroughly researched and although it provided a wealth of knowledge, I felt that it was a bit redundant. The slight mishaps with speech clarity and projection, (I can relate due to my battle with anxiety) and the unification of the presentation took only minimal away from the cumulative presentation.
