In her essay, "The Meaning of the Name," Felicia Pride reflects on her alter ego Negra and the concept of alter egos in general. She discusses several musical artists' use of the alter ego (Eminem, Beyonce, Jay-Z) and goes in to some depth regarding the meaning and origin of her own alter ego. Pride writes, "This [creating an alter ego] isn't about being someone you're not" (8). For Pride the alter ego is about allowing parts of the self that wouldn't otherwise be allowed to manifest publicity the chance to see the light of day.

The Meaning of the Name," Felicia Pride" reflects on her alter ego Negra(which translates into black woman) and the concept of alter egos in general which influences her to become a strong. Felicia discusses several musical artists' use of the alter ego such as Jay-Z and Emminame and etc and goes in to depth regarding the meaning and origin of her own alter ego. Pride writes, "This [creating an alter ego] isn't about being someone you're not" (8). For Felicia, the alter ego means to publiclly manifesting to be able to see the light of the day for the black woman to be able to enbrace the power of human rights for the woman. She, like Tupac have fought for the rights of many blacks voice to be heard and not to be protrait for their image and color but for who they are. Just like Tupac, she has become and influentual indiviual because people have allowed her to be who who she wants to be.
My name Debbie (or Deb) is a fairly common given name, usually feminine, short for Deborah (or Debra) (which means "bee" in Hebrew) and is popular in most English-speaking countries. It reached its height of popularity in the United States in the 1970s.

In The meaning of the Name Felicia Pride discuss the way she acts with her alter ego. One day when she was in Spanish class the word "negra" was said out loud which was referring to a "black woman". Sometimes one ego can be so strong it has a mind of its own. One thing Pride did was she used Jay-Z and Emminame as key examples for her inspiration.

An alter ego doesn't have to be a dangerous path it can be something you just have inside you all along without knowing it. When Tupuc fought for rights for African americans he also fought for women rights.

My first name means ruler. My last name means Dark skinned person. This topic that tupuc talk about doesnt really relate to me. But i definately feel their pain.

The Meaning of a Name -- Freewrite

A name has deeper meanings when it is being interpreted. An individual can identify or expand the meaning of their name to give their existence more depth. In “The Meaning of the Name,” Felicia Pride explains how significant names are and how her altar ego, Negra, defines her.

The word negra basically means “black woman.” According to Pride, negra encouraged her to be brave and pliable (8). It shows that one’s identity or altar ego can help the individual survive and maneuver themselves in their everyday life. Pride said that “this isn’t about being someone you’re not” (8). The altar ego has already identified with the individual’s multiple personalities.

It is important to self-motivate, and that is what the altar ego is for. Pride said, “This is about embracing our multiple selves (the Me, the Myself, and the I) and tapping into those reserves for the confidence, power, and sanity needed to accomplish our dreams” (8). When an individual a positive altar ego, it would help them look at that things more positively and would help them improve. Moreover, it represents everything the individual stands for.

In Felicia Pride's essay, "The Meaning of the Name," she talks about her alter egos and gives examples of what alter egos are in general. She gave examples of different artists like Jay Z. Everyone have a alter ego. To allow one self to be something nobody can be

In Felicia Pride's "The Meaning of the Name" she expresses all of her alter egos. She expalins how she has a different one for many different occasions. she states, “this isn’t about being someone you’re not” (8). She wants us to see that having multiple alter egos is not bad but instead good because it can benefit you.
She wants us to know it is basically a way for you to boost your confidence not to be fake. She also states, “This is about embracing our multiple selves and tapping into those reserves for the confidence, power, and sanity needed to accomplish our dreams” (8). This proves my previous statement of how it should bring us confidence not an image of a fake individual.
My name is Sha'Quea Pratt and I don't know what it exactly means but when i recently looked it up i found that Sha'Quea comes from the Chinese root word Sha which means "thank you". I've also found that it means strength.
