Quite a few students and their friends met for the play Sunday evening. After the talk-back a few of us stopped at the Burrito Restaurant down the street for dinner and then we got on BART close to midnight.
If any students want to post a reflection on the events this weekend, please do. If you want extra credit for the writing email it to me as well.

Feedback for Sunday’s Play
I went to the play this Sunday and I have to say it was definitely a first experience for me. I have never been to a play in San Francisco and a play that was like the one we saw. I really like the way the actors acted there part, mainly the twine in the play. They really got my attention on how life really is in the hood. How people most the time have two ways well the two easy ways of life. You either stay in the hood which is what the boy twin did; I just don’t remember his name. But he stays in the hood and basically was a statistic of a black man of the Oakland society. Become a hussler, a drug dealer. His sister in the other hand saw and went the easy way out of the hood, which was joining the military. Being the other come that most minority, low income house hold children do to get out. The over all story of the play was great and eye opening. How the mother and father had a white child and it affected the whole family in a really dramatic way, and I am pretty sure it would go the same way if any family for example my family had a black biological child, its would be weird and people would look at our family like if something was wrong with us. What the whole play made me understand even though I know that a persons skin color in certain areas, or community are not really accepted and can make a persons life a lot different just simply from the color of your skin. That is what this girl had to go through going up a white girl in the hood with her black family. Over all I really like the play and would love to attend something like this again.

EXTRA CREDIT: Speak Out
I was really glad that I went to this performance. The tickets were sold out, but luckily I was about to purchase one. The theater was nice and it was completely sold out! We had 3rd row seats which was really cool!
The performance was wonderful. Ise Lyfe is so talented, so creative, and very cute :) . Melanie had such a strong voice, I really liked the way she fit into the performance. There weren't a lot of performers, but they weren't needed since the show was very good.
The show was about Ise Lyfe different point of views of life. Growing up, discrimination, poverty, death, etc. My favorite part was the character of Uncle Randy. I think everybody enjoyed his performance since it was really funny. I personally can relate to this because the nighborhood in W.Oakland that I live in a lot of people like Uncle Randy. People like him are misunderstood. Many people discriminate against homeless, drug addicted people. But if people would stop being judgmental and get to know them, they are really helpful and always look out for the ones who care for them.
It was really funny when Uncle Randy got denied access to go to heaven and got sent to hell. There he tricked the devil into believing that he was scared and stabbed him. God saw this and granted him access to heaven. This was my favorite part of the show because I never imagined anything like that. If I was to be put in Uncle Randy's position one day, I would take a stab on that. :)
Another part that I liked was the performance with the girl and the toilet. The message that I got from that performance was that some females are very pretty from the outside, but ugly in the inside. I was glad that I went to see this show and I would love to see it again. Let me know if you hear about a part II performance. :)
