Tim Wise Event

The Tim Wise event was streamed live yesterday from USF. When I checked to see if it as archived for the public, I did not find any links yet, but there is a promise (smile). http://www.usfca.edu/stream/diversity/wise/

Oh, Angela Davis is speaking and reading from her new book on Friday evening at Marcus Books in Oakland at 3900 Martin Luther King Jr Way, (510) 652-2344.

This man is brilliant. I have read numerous of books around this topic and his thought about diversity has to be the most contemporary perspective I've ever witness or heard. His insights about how society's separation is great. He talks about the inequalities in income in America, the opportunities and privilege given to certain groups, and the access of care and programs given to people all around the nation. But what I found most interesting about Tim Wise was his focus to look past the skin of another. Throughout his lecture his emphasize on the character of another and not the surface of their skin. This is an idea that Martin Luther King said in his " I Have A Dream " speech. He has carried this idea to another level. the idea of looking past the the skin of a person and judging the by their character seems easier for me to practice. i really enjoyed his lecture and plan to burrow his books in the library to learn a little more on his subjects. thanks Ms.Sabir for this.
