Assignment Due Dates: A Conversation and an Update


Taken from the syllabus:

Essay due dates: 
First essay due: March 18 with Initial Planning Sheet and Outline. Final draft due March 20/21. 

Get book approved for Book Report Essay about or by a happy person (smile).  Book Report 
Essay due date: April 15 with IPS and Outline. Final draft due April 17/18.

Final Essay due on social entrepreneur: May 6. Final draft due May 8/9. Presentations the week of May 13-16. 

You will probably notice that we are behind. I do not eliminate assignments, but I am not going to make your life miserable either. Because we are behind, the grades you receive on your essays if passing will be final. The following new dates are nonnegotiable. 

New due dates: 

Book Report Essay:

Final draft due electronically: April 29. Peer review week of Monday, April 22-April 25.

Social Entrepreneur Essay: 

Frontline World Cyber Assignments 
due, Wednesday, April 17.  Profile planning sheet due: May 6.  Peer Review: Week of May 6-9.  Second peer review: Monday, May 13, 2013. 

Tuesday-Wednesday, May 14-15. Essay Portfolio sent to coasabirenglish1A@gmail.com I want to see this essay.  Make an appointment with me to go over it this week. We might not have enough time to do this in class. Make yourself a copy of the essay to take notes. 

Note on peer reviews:
For the final two essays, bring in three copies of the essay (including planning and outline for classmates who will all read and respond as a group to each other's essays. 

Final draft due with portfolio 12 noon: May 24 to coasabirenglish1A@gmail.com

Finals
On the day of the final, students are to make a poster presentation about their journey this semester querying happiness, from Rubin to their literary search, culminating with the Social Entrepreneur profile.  Illustrate your journey this semester.

This presentation reflects the portfolio essay students will write for their class portfolio which includes all of the major essays and writings this semester (graded assignments) and freewrites.
