It must have been devastating for him to be put in prison for a crime that he did not commit. The justice system in our country really needs to be fixed.

Hello Robert King, my name is Sha'Quea Pratt and I would like to tell you that your presentation was very great and I learned a lot about you from what you said. I didn't know anything about you before the presentation but I'm glad I do now. When you expressed yourself to us, I could just picture it all and see all of the pain you had been through over the years of your life. Also hearing that you were a Hurricane Katrina Survivor really moved me as well because for you to have been through the many things you've already have been through and them come 2005 you have to suffer from a Hurricane that ripped away your area is very touching to me and hits a sensitive spot in me. I would like to know what exactly does the tatoo of the spider and the letter on your nuckle mean exactly. I would also like to know if you changed as a person after going through all the things you went through, and how did it change you exactly.

Dear Mr.King,
I enjoyed your presentation of your life and the book you wrote. Before you came I was already interested, just because you were a Black Panther. When you got to our class, and also announced that you were a Katrina Survivor, i became more interested. My family is from New Orleans, so i know first hand how devasting that was. When i went to New Orleans for the first time in summer of 2008, i was surprised to see some things still in ruins. Just knowing that you have been thru all of those things in jail, and then turned around and lost your home that made me feel for you. Your a perfect example that anything is possible, with will power. One key thing that stood out to me in your presentation, is using your mind. Education really is the key, and you have shown me that. I enjoyed your presentation though, and I am interested in reading your book. Then another interesting thing is that, yesterday when i got home a man knocked on my door taking signatures to help free political prisoners. But thank you for taking the time to share your story with our class.

Being in solitary confinement for that many years forces an individual to think deeply about things. How did being in that state make you a stronger person? Also knowing that the court system convicted you for a crime that you did not commit, did you find it hard to forgive the system despite the wrongs it had done to you?

His life was very hard since he was sent to prison for a crime he never committed too. He was sentenced for 35 years and then another 8 for when he escaped to bring the total up to 43 years. Another reason King said he was arrested was because he was part of the Black Panthers. He repeated quite a few times that our law system really needs to be fixed. People were getting arrested just because they had a criminal record and their record fit the profile of the suspect the cops were looking for. The cops used the strategy of one by one elimination.
His life seemed very depressing. I am glad he is doing well now though.
