Presentations

Today's presentations went well. Erik, Bettie & Shay, made outstanding presentations. Other presenters were Debbie Adame and Debbie Lee.

These two presenters did better when responding to questions; however, when Debbie Lee followed Debbie Adame, her comments were clearer and on point. Both presenters had a lot of passion for the topic, but hadn't rehearsed their presentation. I hope their second presentation will be smoother tomorrow.

Bettie and Shay were both creative and well-informed. Their presentation extended the arguments presented in the chapter and the slide show on top of the song: Words of Wisdom was great. I don't know why the images were blurry, but in the future Shay, show the file images, even if they are smaller.

Erik's presentation was simple, yet effective. He knew his chapter and the points he wanted to talk about. I really liked how he analyzed his poems and tied them into the themes he was discussing.

Please comment on the writer's grasp of key ideas and concepts presented in the chapter. Comment on the presentation itself: was the writer prepared? Did he or she know the chapter?

Be constructive. Add to the discussion something the presenter did not choose to highlight.

Each response needs to be specific to the writer/team. You will write a separate comment for each writer.

they all explained the chapter very well. Both Debbie's Group and Erik's presentsion was good. I agree that Debbie Lee followed Debbie Adame very well. I could tell that you actually read and understood your chapter. Erik did very well even though his presentstion was simple. He did very well with explaining his chapter and all the questions he was asked. He gave me a better understanding of the chapter.

Today Emmy did her presentation on chapter 4. She did very well explaining her chapter. She also defined the word Nigga very well with evidence from the book. The song she used went with her chapter very well and I can say that from her presentaion that I have a better understanding of the chapter.

I thought that Emmy's presentation of Chapter 4 was well. She discussed key points like how Tupac felt strong in what he believed in. She hit on another key point that often times in Hip-Hop the female is portrayed as a "bitch" and it is seen negatively. While the males are referred to as "niggas" and it is a term of endearment. I think that because Tupac embraced thug life he used the term "bitch", but could also use the word "queen." He knew both sides of the fence and played them, which is why people connected well with him, which was another point she discussed. I enjoyed her presentation.

- Erik's presentation was very well-prepared. He extended his ideas for the chapter; he also related his chapter to a poem to establish his point.

- Debbie Adame & Debbie Lee was not as prepared as I thought they could be. However, Debbie Lee did a great job at answering questions and giving me and the class more insights on the introduction.

- Emmy's presentation was well-done. I really liked how she explained the term "thug life." She also explained to me how the older Black community looked at things differently than the young Black community; young Black community sees rap as a way to express themselves. Overall, Emmy knew her chapter and did a great job explaining it.

Every presentation to interesting. It gave me a vivid picture on 2Pac's life and his thoughts on life, power and respect. He was an outstanding being that was highly intelligent. It's sad that we have indidviduals that think they can just take away something so beautiful that is not able to replace which is life. Overall, 2Pac was loved by alot of people and his work will always be remembered.

Anne Hallford and Eric Wong's presentation for chapter 7 was very well presented. They spoke very well about how he was connected to God and used the song "I wonder if Heaven got a ghetto" and the Poem "God". They both showed that they knew what they were talking about.

Anaya O.'s Presentation was very well. She explained her chapter very well and also taught me that Tupac was the first person who created the M.O.B. saying. She chose "Tears from a star" as her poem and I feel the poem really described her chapter very well. I feel that that poem did relate to his tatoo Thug Life. I really enjoyed how her tatoo's also express herslef the same as it did for Tupac.

Lastly, Andrew Y.'s presentation on the Epilogue. He explained Tupac's death very well and when and where he died. He spoke about how people felt he got shot and killed. He tells how people seen Tupac in themselves and how he still lives in the people. The poem he chose was "In the event of my demise" and the song "Only god can Judge me" to go along with his chapter and i feel that these to Arts really explained his chapter very well.

As for all the chapters in and presentation everyone did great. Everyone seemed to know their chapter. I really enjoyed listening to everyone tell their chapter and see what they gathered from it. I felt like I learned a lot from all the presentations.

As for my self reflection on my own performance, I felt I did well but I was nervous. I Practiced my presentation, but I am not sure if it showed. What I think I can do better for my next presentation is get more evidence to back up my fax. Doing a presentation is something that does not come easy for me. Now that it is down i feel happy.

Howard's group - I think the presenters were organized and all of them did a good job. Howard gave us great examples by using quotes from the book to extend his point.

Debbie Lee & Debbie Adame - They did better on Chapter 5 than they did on their introduction; they were much more ready to present. I like how Debbie Lee explained to us the term "thug life."

Amani - Amani's presentation went really well. Her explanation of the term "bitch" allowed me to understand why some women prefer or like to be called one -- she also extend her points using some of Tupac's song (Wonder Why They Call You Bitch).

Anne Hallford & Erik Wong - I think they did a great job and was prepared to present their points. I understood more about Tupac's relationship with God and how black youth can relate to Tupac's songs about death because they are exposed to these situations.

Nick Rafter & Hassen Besher - I liked the work & effort put into this presentation; they did a great job explaining how Tupac was seen as a 'martyr'/"Black Jesus."

Anaya Odom - I like how she explained that Tupac's tattos were symbolic; his tattoos were imposed on his body for a good reason. She also explained that it represents how realistic Tupac was. I like the effort put into this for the audience to understand more about this chapter.

Andrew Yuen - Andrew's choice of song "How Long Will They Mourn Me?" relates to the presentation really well. I like how he explained to us that Tupac's work, beliefs is still around even though he is physically dead.
