“Love”
According to the Greek world, there are three types of love; eros, philia and agape which they may be seen from different perspectives by people around the globe. To my mind, the term “love” is one of the most difficult and laborious words to define or express. Honestly, I reckon that most of the time people claim to love somebody when in fact they do not really know the concept of love. I consider, without doubt, that “agape” is the most valuable and remarkable type of love. There are plenty of reasons to believe so. The chief reason is that agape represents pure, genuine and authentic love. In addition, that was the love that Jesus Christ demonstrated and expressed to the human race. However, it is the most difficult and complicated to express. Agape love means unconditional love. In other words, you love a person exactly as they were before, exactly as they are now and exactly as they will be in the future regardless the circumstances they might be immersed in. Not only love is precious and desirable for human beings, but also love is the most powerful and effective weapon against hate. Mahatma Ghandi is a clear example of a man who adapted a non-violence attitude towards the world. Love was the basis of his thoughts and feelings.
The world of “eros” is a fickle and dependent one, depending upon perceptions and circumstances. It is connected to sexual, romantic love which has lately been overrated by western people. Romantic love exists obviously, but if we are trying to reveal the real meaning of love, we should turn our eyes away from romantic love. From my point of view, there have been few people in the world who have discovered the concept of love. I reckon that people behave in an amazing way when in fact it is all a charade. Candies, chocolate, greeting cards are just potential tools at the time of uncover people’s personalities. What I consider is that people (including myself) are outstanding actors. Obviously, there is something we can not omit and is that we are human beings. As a consequence, selfishness is part of our nature. As time goes by, people are even further away from the real meaning of love.
If love really existed in today’s world, people from government would not be talking about atomic bombs or nuclear weapons. If agape love really existed, two world wars would not have taken place and killed millions and millions of people or The Jewish genocide would not have occurred and two atomic bombs would not have been dropped. Jesus Christ is the only peacemaker who always put into practice what he preached to the world. We will never be able to be like Jesus Christ, but if we wish to discover the concept of love, we should start to turn our eyes to him and we will notice that the world will be a better place to live.

Freewriting about "Half the Sky"
I choose this paragraph: "My feet were beaten until they were like yogurt, Zoya said. 'All my days there were unhappy, but that was the worst.' 'Mostly those kinds of beatings happen because the hushands are illiterate and uneducated,' she added. 'But it also happens that the wife is not taking care of her husband or is not obedient. Then it is appropriate to beat the wife.' Zoya smiled a bit when she saw the shock on our faces. She explained patiently:'I should not have been beaten, because I was always obedient and did what my husband said. But if the wife si truly disobendient, then of course her hushand has to beat her."
This kind of mentality of a woman is the book wants to show us. In short, women themselves absorb and transmit misogynistic values, just as men do. This exaple also show us that women's issues are not so simple that they can be solved by just one method.

"Love" essay
The warmest word
People have had the feeling of love ever since they were born. However, the feeling of love has changed as people's experience have changed. Therefore, people have come up with so many ideas about what love is. There are three ideas about love, which people often discuss. There is an idea that love is an affection for an other. There is another ieda that love is something peopel should have for everyone include their enemies. Finally, there is an idea that love is an exchange which is between two peopel.
According to the "Amercian Heritage Dictionary", lovie is a deep affection and warm feeling for another. Often people find affection when they meet the person who can give them a sexual feeling. That is the reason why people call their sex partner their "lover." People also get a warm feeling from their parents or their friends. That is the reason why people need a strong relationship with both their family and their friends. The felling of love is like the oil in people's lives and it makes people's lives smooth.
Although, usually people like to think that love is always a good feeling, some peopel believe that love could be broader, and they emphasize that people should love their enemy. (this idea, of couse, comes from Jesus.) People believe that loving your enemy could give you a highly understanding of youself. In order to be a peace, people should learn to love everybody.
However, instead of thinking that love is a one direatinal action, some people came up with the idea that love could is an exchange between two people. The idea is that how much love peopel can receive depends on how much love people give. For example, if a person always tries to help others, than other person will want to help that person as well.
In short, love is the most beautiful word in many languages. Love is also a big word in many languages. It is not easy to explain this word "love." Love is a word, which peopel have to use their hearts to feel and to understand because love is the warmest word in our language.

I chose the story about Mahabouba in chapter six. Her aunt raised her and she did not go to school. On day a sixty year old purchased her to be his second wife. Later she got pregnant and escaped from his house. Her pelvis was small so the baby could not survive and she had to suffer from fistula. She could not walk or even stand. The village people said that she was cursed and she should not live here. She was left alone in a small hut at the edge of the village. Somehow, she dragged herself to a missionary. Aghast nursed her and washed her. On the next trip he took her to Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital. The hospital is run by Catharine Hamlin a gynecologist. She has devoted most of her life to poor women in Ethiopia. Mahabouba is one of those who couldn’t be fully repaired. She was able to walk again, but she had to settle for a colostomy. Later she got a job at the hospital as a nurse. She learned to read and write.
If she was educated she would have gone to a hospital for the baby and herself, instead she tried to have the baby herself. This story tells us how young uneducated girls are treated in some countries. Also if her husband and his first wife would have treated she would not have to run away and she would have a healthy baby.

I choose the chapter two: prohibition and prostitution why author state three point; sex trafficking and forced prostitution, gender-based violence including honor killings and mass rape, and maternal mortality. I am interesting about female of prostitution.
The chapter two last story, author meet Srey Neth in Poipet, Cambodia where Kristof and New York Times videographer, Naka Nathaniel, stay in a guesthouse that doubles as a brothel for $8 a night. They buy her form the brothel owners and $150 later that was the case....complete with a receipt after the transaction. The girls were each taken back home. Neth was given money to open up a grocery store which initially thrived and American Assistance for Cambodia helped to look after her and help her succeed.
Also, they meet Srey Momm in this second chapter in another brothel. Upon meeting Nick she begged and pleaded with him to buy her so she could go back home after she had been in the brothel for 5 years. For $203 Momm was purchased from the brothel owners, again complete with a receipt. Unfortunately, a week later Momm had voluntarily gone back to her former brothel in Poipet. Her story does not end so sadly though because she is now permanently freed from the brothel after a crackdown and married one of her customers, a police officer. She has now left her former life for good. In short, this two stories are true and bad situation developing country. However, they didn’t know how to find overcome suffering. We need to support from basic education.

Half the Sky "Freewrite"
I believe that the authors in Half the Sky stated their main theme on page 24. The theme is "… the primary purpose of a new movement on behalf of women is to stop slavery and honor killings, another is to expose young Americans to life abroad so that they, too, can learn and grow and blossom--and then continue to tackle the problems as adults."
The story that I chose to address this thesis is the story of Prudence. She was a pregnant woman lying in a hospital of Yokadouma, not being treated for her pregnancy. She was lying in the hospital, getting treating by, not a doctor, but a nurse who had no concept of helping a woman who is pregnant. The nurse thought that the only way to get the baby out was by jumping up an down on the woman's stomach, hoping that the baby would magically pop out of her stomach. When the hospital's doctor came in, he said he needed $100 to perform the surgery. Prudence's family said they didn't have that much money, even though one of the family members had a cell phone, which was around $100.
This story shows that, first, some of the people working in the hospital don't have any idea of working with pregnancies. The hospital are, what it seems, hiring people off the streets and not even training these people to "help" the people in the hospital. Also, Prudence's family wasn't even willing to pay $100 to help get the dead fetus from her body, before killing her. This shows that people over in that country, in general, don't really take a woman's life seriously. I bet that if it was a man's life in danger, the family wouldn't even ave. second thoughts about money or anything of the sort.

My Love
Love is any of the emotions related to a sense of strong affection. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes. Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships. Love is a great word for me why I get powerful energy and motivation. I think three kinds loving for me: Buddha, mother, and blue sky.
First, I love Buddha and I respect his teaching; big compassion, cause and effect. I preach Buddhist teachings every week and I believe reality rules nature. I learn “big mind compassion” from Buddha’s teachings. I know cause and effect. For example, an onion will not produce a rose. I will plant good karma in my environment and get a better life. It is a clear teaching for me. In Buddhism, it refers to detachment and unselfish interest in others' welfare. I love Buddha’s teaching.
Second, between parent and children is loves, which is pure love. My mother is the only one left in my family. My father died fifteen years ago and I don’t have a sister or brother. I always miss my mother. She cooked delicious Korean food and usually prayed for me. She always worries about me. I know her mind and I have the same mind. She doesn’t want to return affection which felt embarrasses. She must not forget her child.
Finally, people don’t know value nature, whereas I love a blue sky. When I saw a blue sky, I felt better and get away from stress. I have spirit freedom. I heard Seattle weather is mainly rain day so they feel depress there develop coffee company. Blue and clear sky is good condition for person. Blue sky, it is good gift for me. I have positive thinking which is great and warm loving. Love is the best word all culture. Love makes happy world.

I picked chapter three Learning to Speak Up. As Martin Luther Jr. put it during the American civil rights struggle: “We must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.” (47) The character I am going to bring up here is Usha Narayane, a 28 year-old educated India lady; she leads the village women to kill Akku Yadav, the monster of the village. The final verdict is no one person would be culpable for the murder. They reasoned that if several hundred women each had stabbed Akku Yadav once, then no single stab wound would have been the fatal one. (52)
I saw a murder trial article on Feb 21, 2010 San Francisco Chronicle. Aaron Vargas, a 32-year-old handyman accused of shooting a 63-year-old former neighbor Darrell McNeil in front of McNeil’s wife. Vargas has an awful lot of supporters in the damp little coastal town, Fort Bragg, Mendocino because Vargas says the dead man started raping him at the age of 11. Even the widow believed and wanted to give Vargas a chance. She said, “I do not condone what he did. He just needs help. I’ve known him most of his life, and I still love the kid.” The trial will be on March 22. I hope Vargas can get a fair judge with considering his circumstances.
I feel both the cases in line with the authors’ premise stated on xxi. It is stated, “It’s true that there are many injustices in the world, many worthy causes competing for attention and support, and we all have divided allegiances. We focus on this topic because, to us, this kind of oppression feels transcendent – and so does the opportunity. We have seen that outsiders can truly make a significant different.”

"The couple wouldn't let Mahabouba out of the house for fear she might run away. Indeed, she tried several times, but each time she was caught and thrashed with sticks and fists until she was black, blue, and bloody" (pg.94)
I chose chapter six the story of Mahabouba. She was raised in the village of Jimma. She was not educated and was given away by her father ti his sister because her parents had divorced. she was pretty much treated as a servant. so she ran off with her sister to work as maids to have a place to stay.
she was then sold after being promised to give her work, to a man who then raped and beat her. She was purchased as a second wife, while the first wife would beat her. She eventually became pregnant and was held captive so she would not run away. at seven months she ran away in fear that they would soon beat her and her child to death.
An uncle found her and let her stay in a hutby his house. When she was going into labor she did not have money so she had to give birth by herself. During this a horrible thing happened. She ended up in obstructed labor, with the baby stuck in her birth passage. The baby was in there seven days before someone had come to help her remove it, by this time her pelvis had started to rot away.
This is normal of a fistula. She couldnt even walk anymore or control her bowel movements. the door was taken off her hut to be left fo hyenas to kill her. She crawled her way to a fistula hospital, where there she was treated, given clothes, a place to stay and a job at the hospital. She is still there today working and keeping to herself mostly. She can now let her horrific pat be behind her.
i definantly admir this womans will to live and strive to survive. Most women in her situation i believe would not make it. The courage and strength that it took for this woman to get where she is now. it is absolutly incredible. Almost to amazing to be true.

For my freewrite today I focused on Srey Neth and Srey Momm. They are two girls who were in brothels in Cambodia. One of the authors, Nick, bought these two girls and brought them to their families which created great joy. Neth stayed home and opened up a shop but Momm was not so lucky. She became addicted to meth that they were giving her at the brothel and went back. It supports the thesis because it shows two different sides of a similar story. Outsiders CAN help, but it isn't always what is best. Girls are constantly being traffiked and put into brothels without any say. It is really sad and I'm glad at Nick could at least help one girl in that situation. Maybe they need to find better ways to help more girls so that they won't need to go back because of addiction or psychological reasons.

If one were to look to Miriam-Webster’s definition of love they would find examples of affection. These examples include affection for one’s kin, sexual affection, and the love of God. My own personal experiences have shaded my belief that the American standard for love has become something one expects to experience in her life. Eros is a term originally conceived by Plato in ancient Greece. It pertains to the idea of sexual affection and is the foundation of what we know as Cupid. Television would have us believe that as long as you’re doing as you’re told life will unfold. If you start down this straight and narrow path you can achieve the fundamentals of success and start a family by the time you’ve clocked enough hours in a cubicle. This particular image of success has not gotten anyone anywhere. People need to wake up and enjoy their own life. They should appreciate their individuality and carve a niche for themselves. Romance is not something that could be picked up and bought at a mini-mall. Spontaneity does not come from celebrating Valentine’s Day with the same pre-made garbage year after year.
The reason that those things were ever made is because they’re purchased. The reason that they are popular is not exactly one-sided, but most can agree on one thing. Valentine’s Day kitsch was garbage when it first came out of the factory. Love should be exciting. Love should be refreshing and new. Love should be different for everyone because everyone is different. People instinctively love and have a need to be loved. Some are just so far out of touch with their own feelings that they expect this to drop out of the sky for them. Many regard love as a natural part of life and then feel rejected, alone, and owed when no one drops out of the sky.
There are many that actively seek a preconceived image. Some people just seek to be cherished and to buy things on Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately many people are sorely disappointed when they realize that this idea they had was not actually anything they wanted. I say that people should open up and share with each other. People should love themselves, to love others, and perhaps seek love in return but to never expect it. If the uninitiated believe love lies in hallmark cards and plastic bears, they are bound to be sorely disappointed.

I understand Kirstoff and WuDunn’s central thesis of Half the Sky as “…to lay out an agenda for the world’s women focusing on three particular abuses…” and to “...lay out solutions such as girl’s education and microfinance…” On the same page they also speak of empowering women to overcome such everyday tragedies as the pitiful state of world politics and foreign affairs. The authors prescribe enlightenment, education, and self-empowerment to alleviate the woes patriarchy world-wide. The introduction focuses on a woman named Rath that had been sold into slavery by pimps. She escaped from a brothel where she was being held against her will and was able to start her own business with financial assistance from a 1st world charity called American Assistance.
Another very clear example is almost immediately afterwards when we’re told the story of a young woman named Kun Sokkea. Her school in Cambodia had been built with the funds of privileged American school kids. She had trouble getting to her secondary school as it was very far away. The Americans then bought her a bike and it was stolen. She was once again out of luck.
I want to focus on the story of a woman named Usha that grew up in a poor Indian neighborhood known as Kasturba Nagar. Her parents were able to provide her with more then the other kids she grew up with ever knew. She was able to educate and empower herself. After she got through school she returned to her village to find a group of thugs had taken over. These thugs intimidated the townspeople and were infamous for raping women. Usha stood up to these people when they came to shake down her family and have their way with her. Her country’s legal system did very little to protect the women of their village and they were forced to take action. Eventually some were arrested and at his trial the ring-leader of the gang mocked the women and laughed.
Usha and the other women saw that they must take action and protect themselves. The other women saw this power in Usha and felt empowered themselves. They stabbed the rapist to death and took back their homes. It wasn’t international political pressure or 1st world charity that saved them. They stood up because one woman felt self-empowered and they took back what was theirs. I think this is very powerful and that it speaks volumes.

For today’s free write I am reflecting on Chapter 5 The Shame of “Honor,” the case of Dina from a small village in Congo called Kindu. She was in the field working and on her way home she was gang raped by 5 soldiers. They raped her and stuck a stick up her private areas and left there to die. She was able to be sewed up and repair the rips that were done to her by these soldiers stupidity. The part that caught my attention is the part where she wanted to stay in the city where the hospital was because she felt that if she returned to her village she will just get raped again. It seems as if she’s knows it will happen and there’s no stopping it. It seem as if woman just sacrifice themselves to protect their loved one (there husband) like it this passage starting on page 86, “When men leave the camp, they’re shot dead. When the women leave, they’re only raped.” They make it seem as if this is okay and not as bad as dying but in reality it is almost the same but instead you live forever with the feeling and memory of what happen to you. This is a good example of the authors thesis of how women are abused and raped all over the world and how women in some situation grown use to knowing that this happens around them and get use to it.

The author states very clearly, on page xxi of the introduction, the book's theisis. The book will be focusing on three things, violance against women, sex trafficing, and forced prositition. Then they will offer solutions based on education and micro financing.
I read the entire book but I choose the very first story to focus on. The reason why I choose this story is because it's just like every other story in the book. Why not start with the orignial.
Another reason I choose it, was because I wish I didn't have to read beyond this point.
The Long-story-short version goes, a 16 year old girl named Seth Rath tavels to tialand to be a dishwasher. Then some gangster pimp claimed he now owned her and she had to be his ho. She runs to the police and they just take her back to the pimp.
So there you have it. The police are involved in the sex trafficing, and the pimp supplys the violance and forced prostition.
They talk about how much better Cambodia is now. Better schools, humanitarian groups, and international attention to the child prosition.
They go back and forth on Cambodia a lot. One minute, it's all drug addicts and slums. Then it's a beacon of example to the 3rd world.
This is like when a city decides to clean up a bad neigbourhood. The problems never go away, they just move to a new location, and it become someone elses problem.
People rarely change. Out of sight, out of mind, is the status quo. This author will say anything to prove a point.
The book would be much better as a pamplet containing the introduction and the last chapeter. Everything in the middle can be cut out cause it's all bias and redundant. I know women in general are not as weak, foolish, pathetic, and easliy munipulated as this author suggest.
If Obama gets a Nobel Prize, and the movie Titanic can get 11 Oscars, I can see how this bullshit got a Pulitzer Award. I said it before, and I'll say it again. This book sucks.

The case that I am going to focus on is the case of Goretti. Goretti was a prisoner in her own hut and would always have to ask her husband for permission when she wanted to go out. Bernard had to go to wherever she went. He would spend most of the money earned on alcohol and would not buy the children nets so that the mosquitoes would not get to them. She was always getting beaten by her husband and then they would have sex.
When she heard about a CARE program she wanted to go but her husband did not go. He was upset of the fact that she ended going out with his permission. Goretti became the president of the organization. The women in the group helped her with her crops and that was how she made money selling things. This was something that was done to all the women that were part of the group.
The CARE group helped Goretti in many ways. She was now able to afford things, make money, get her own business and take care the needs of her children. Her husband stopped hitting her and he didn’t even get a second wife. Goretti made sure that her children would get an education and get what they needed to attend. Some money was given to Bernard so that he can get what he needed and she even paid when he had to go to the hospital because he malaria.
This program encouraged women to go to the hospital to go give birth and to have health care. It helped Goretti get the respect that she wanted from her husband.

Victor brought a bear that his mom gave him. Represents when his baby was born and he loves her. I have yet to feel that type of love because I have no children. I do love my little cousins and some I love as if they were my own kids.
Emmily brought a pic of her dog. Her dog has cancer and she got her when she was a few months old. Her dog is now thirteen. This I can relate to because I love my dog Chata. She is so cute and is always by me when I am sad or something.
Valeria love depends from where u r. Colombia is different not as safe or organized. I think that she is right because people do love differently. My family is from Mexico and many people say that the way our family loves each other is weird. Some people think that we have something going on with a cousin just because of how loving we are with each other.
Jon it is good to love others. To love yourself. I think that it is important to love oneself. I think that in order to love others we have to love ourselves. This helps us shape ourselves.

The last presenter Nokhtor had a good way of explaining what love was to him. How in order to love anyone you have to love yourself. Then once you do that life and everything around you will be happy and loving. Summera and Sun Jung Park had a similar relationship of how they love their religion and their family. They both bad a simple of religion one on a neck less and Sun Jung had a picture of Buddha. It was interesting how they both also love their mother. This also related to Cortny and her love for her family being an unconditional love that will always be there for her. Overall these were all good presentations and it’s nice to hear everyone’s opinion of what love is to them and who they love or what they love the most.

“Half The Sky” Freewrite
The “Half of Sky” book is a meaningful book to me, for it help me more understand about life of women in developing country. It also break my heart small story of women in Thai, India, and Afghanistan. With chapter, I learn the story about Meena Hasina, an Indian Muslim woman. Meena was a prostituted in a brothel of Nutt. Nutt is a tribe where mothers sell sex and raise their children to do the same. In the brothel, they beat her rudely and drug her. She and other girls served ten people a day and work seven days a week. Importantly, Meena helped thirteen girls escape, but she did not flee herself because of her two daughters. Later on, she met Kuduz, a pharmacist, then they got marriage. Life seems better for Meena, but she never forgot her first children. Therefore, she went back to the brothel to bring her first two children out.
The story of Meena is a sample of three abuses such as sex trafficking, forced prostitution, gender based violence, and it is also the theme of “Half the Sky” book. There is a question behind this story is what can we do for women in poor countries.

Some Students presented aphelia Eros and agape as what they represent. Lisa, Kim, Adrianna, Sideeq and others, I really enjoyed what they had to say about love and what it means to them, for example Adrianna presented her stuffed dog, she had it since she was young from her grandma before she past away. And it was really special to her. Sideeq had a really interesting and thoughtful presentation. It gave meaning and thought of how he changed his life for the better and for his family after having a bad past and its for the love of his family. I think that shows a good example of how much you could do for the people you love. Classmates did a good job ib what they had to shares with us.

One of the cases that the book mentions in the thesis is maternal mortality, or deaths during child birth. One woman has done an enormous job of doing her part in Africa to help decrease it’s maternal mortality rate. Edna Adan is a powerful woman and has become influential in her home country Somaliland on the Horn of Africa as well as in the UN. Edna felt that she had to make an impact in her home city and thought it best to build a maternal hospital with hopes of making it safer for woman giving birth. Somaliland at the time had one of the highest rates of maternal mortality in the world and she would not let this continue without a fighting effort. She began construction on a site that was used for imprisonment, flogging, and executions during the last civil war. Edna used her life saving of $300,000 to fund the project on her own. Unfortunately Edna’s money ran out with the hospital still needing a roof. To try and help get the project back on track, articles were written in different countries to promote Edna’s good will and bring public attention to her efforts. The articles reached the right set of eyes; two women in America read about what was going on in Somaliland and felt compelled to help in any way they could. Major donations were made to back the project and construction resumed. Edna was overseeing the construction and demanded the male construction workers not chew on khat while on duty. Another rule Edna enforced was that the brick layers had to teach woman how to make brick; this lead to the first female bricklayer in Somaliland. This shows you that Edna does not just want to save mothers, but has the interest of all women in mind. The construction was completed and it looked marvelous with no signs of the dirty site that was located there before. Edna has done everything in her power to empower woman and make it safer for them in her home city of Somaliland.

Love Presentations 2
Today was the second day of presenting our love objects. I was one of the students that presented an object and I chose a crucifix that represents love in the form of agape. Among the many great presentations, the most touching was Sadiq’s story of being incarcerated and getting released with his family intact. The object he brought in was his release papers given to him on his release date. When he was released after two years of imprisonment, his wife was standing outside the jail waiting for him. The strength of love cannot be separated merely by walls or boundaries and his story proved it and also spoke volumes about his community that helped his family when he could not provide for them. David’s presentation was moving as well and was about his tattoos that were in memory of his family. David talked in depth about the tragic story of his father’s murder and how the killer got his just due. He also disclosed with the class that his mother had also passes away when he was young, leaving he and his siblings on their own. From what I remember the siblings are staying with other family members, but to be without your mother or father is a tough task as a child. The most important thing he said was that he has the tattoo of his father to remind him where he can end up if he gets involved with the street life.

What is Love
Everyone wonders from time to time what is love? Some people come across many questions like, Have I ever been in love before? Is love even real? If you ever wondered if you been in love then you haven’t. If you are in love or was in love you would know. Real love is unconditional. That means you love that person exactly as they are. Love is not about your pleasure or your amusement. Unconditional love means that the person can just live their life exactly as they choose and you will always be the for them no matter what.
There are three types of love many people are familiar with. The three types of love; agape, eros, and philia. Agape is endless love to all mankind, eros is more of a romantic love between two people, and philia is mostly the type of love that has been shown. Philia is a love shown towards family and friends. I think the most valuable love there is is philia, because love is everyday life towards family and friends. It’s a very powerful type of love that shows respect for people. Eros, many people spend there whole lives looking for this type of love, but some never find it. As for agape, some may feel it’s impossible; to reach this type of love.
I think love is the most effective weapon against hate, because love brings people together. Its very easy to hate as for love it takes courage and hard work. If you show love to someone it makes it hard for them to hate you. There is a role for romantic love in the world, everyone wants to find love or have found love. Some might think romantic love is stupid western concept that’s highly overrated, but personally I don’t think so! Love is everywhere in poems, movies, books, we even dedicate a whole day all about love. Valentine’s Day! I will agree that greeting card businesses and candy stores are a means to exploit the insecurities of the public, as we all know Valentine’s day is fictionary. Its also nice for people to spend time together or to remember a special somebody. Love cards like on Valentine’s Day say stuff on them that we’d like to say ourselves, but we wouldn’t be caught dead saying. Not to be cynical there’s nothing wrong with flowers and candy on Valentines Day. Its nice to have a whole day about love and celebrating that love with someone special.
My object is a gold necklace given to me by my mother on Valentine’s Day. This object is very valuable to me because it shows me that this particular holiday is not just for people with eros. Its for everyone who has love like philia or even agape. It’s a holiday for all types of love. I value this necklace very much, and never taken it off unless it was necessary to do so. This necklace not only represents my mothers love to me but it lets me remember every detail that happen the moment it was given to me. From the surprising look on my face looking at a red box not knowing what was inside. If it was for me or not, to the big huge and kiss I had given her. I love my mother and wearing this necklace to me represents that.
Love can be shown and even seen between two people. Love is infinitely in size. Some people may have an object that represents love from that special someone; it can be a ring, necklace or even a piece of clothing. By wearing that object is representing their love and the effects their love has on you. Love can be broken, but it will never die.

I chose to examine the case Srey Neth, In this case we see that she is put in a brothel where she is forced to do sexual acts against her own will. Like many girls in those situations, they do not like it and wish they could escape. But the brothels have strong control over their lives and they cannot do much. The problem that is presented is when they escape, they often return. This happens because the girls in these brothels are force to take drugs and they become addicted to it. This is the only thing that they know for so, long that even when they escape they return to captivity. They also experience a lot of beatings and rapes that serve to demoralize them. This make them want to return to these brothels even when freed. This notion plays into the passage because since there is not much exposure on the issue, it allows it to flourish.
