What's Love Got to Do with It?

In class over the past two days we have completed the Multiple Choice Exam 1, a grammar exam which students graded. Make a study plan and email the plan and your total score along with your score section by section.

In all classes we have been using essays from 50 Essays as examples to talk about They Say, chapter 1. There were four exercises this week, two from the Introduction, two from Chapter One. Two were cyber-assignments, one from both chapters.

If you have Steward Pidd Hates English, the boot camp starts next week.

Homework is to read Chapter 2 in They Say. Keep reading Rubin and Cohen.

Post your freewrite here.

Assignment: Free-write – What does love has to do with happiness? What is love?
Love?
Love is everything, as it is the only thing in life that matters. Without love we are nothing. Look at the love of an animal: a dog. The dog loves us no matter what. It loves unconditional. It will be loyal no matter how we treat it: good or bad.
As humans, we are not this way. Some people love because they know they are loved by someone else. They love on a condition of being loved, not because they love. I find this a sad state as I use to love this way, which always ended in sorrow. Love is not conditional, it is unconditional. Once people realize to love freely without conditions, they will be given love without cause.
If someone asked me ‘what does love have to do with happiness’, I’d have to answer, ‘everything’! There is nothing without love.

Homework Page 29 Ex. 2 of “They Say, I Say”
Is our intellectual advancement actually making us a physically weaker society? Homo-sapiens wandered the earth for hundreds of years, eating raw fruits and leftover animal kills. They had strong immune system, fighting off diseases that we, would surly not survive today. With manufacturing and fear generating marketing tactics at an all time high are we cleaning ourselves into extinction? Do we really need to wash all those handle’s, remote controls and what not? Isn’t that like, not exercising because you don’t want to use up all your heart beats? Since the heart is a muscle, and muscles need exercise, shouldn’t you exercise (use more beats) to make it stronger and in effect get more beats, our immune system just like our heart, needs some stress on it. As it fights off bacteria and smaller ailments it gets stronger and adapts to its new environment. Whatever happened to all those kids that used to run around with good old fashion dirt stains on their cloths, hands and face? They were healthy, strong and survived just fine. I happen to sympathize with many people when it comes to cleanliness, though I do believe that we need a little dirt in our life, perhaps because anything less would make us all neurotic. Are we really doing the smart (intellectually correct) thing for our coming generations by eliminating every form of dirt?

Chapter 1 "They Say"-Starting with What Others Are Saying

Exercise 2 assigned on 2/14/2013

If ever there was idea custom-made for a Jay Leno monologue, this was it: Rubin says that money can help buy happiness. Isn't that like saying to go dump your life savings on a horse to become happier?
I happen to sympathize with Rubin, though, perhaps because knowing how to do with your money may result in happiness.

"What's Love Got to do With It"
Loves got to do with the intent that is needed for full communication and emotional availability, it seems. If you aren't there for someone you can only desire. Why dream when you can live it alive and lively like.
So when I was ten in Tae Kwon Do school we had a treatment called "Mother's Love" we were sometimes scared of The Kendo stick, a bound bunch of rattaan strips made to simulate a a practice sword. We did for the most part place the fear in our ownselves for our own good to establish some type of grounds. She was mostly nice .

CHAPTER 1 "THEY SAY, I SAY"

Exercise 1:
a. Many researchers found out that there is dangerous level of Chemical X in Ohio groundwater.

b. Bible reader thought that even bible is one of the most perfect books, but they still found certain flaws in it.

c. Many people, especially men, are very interesting in football, while others think it is boring.

d. College researchers assert that male students often participate more in class discussion then female students.

e. Even though the film contained many action screens, the viewers can see its main story is about problems of romantic relationship.

f. Readers of "They say, I say" think this a useful book, but they are afraid that the templates in the book may stifle their creativity.

Exercise 2:

If ever there was an idea custom-made for a Jay Leno monologue, this was it: Rubin thinks that to find happiness you have to spend some time to think about what you are really want to do to make your life happier. Isn't that like someone almost lived the whole life, but didn’t find the happiness for themselves such as love, happy, and joy? Whatever happened to the Rubin’s life, is she always a happy person?
I happen to sympathize with Rubin's happy project, though, perhaps because I am also finding love, happy, and peace for my life.

Love has nothing to do with itl Its all about what a person can do outside of love. When people are in a long term relationship and they break up they dont know how to move on and they get stuck. If i broke up with my girlfriend i wull still know what to do tomorrow i wouldnt be lost.

I do not think anyone could truly be happy without some sort of love in their life. In order to be happy and appreciate the things in life, you have to accept and love yourself. Loving yourself is the first step to living a healthy life and have healthy relationships. Love has everything to do with happiness.

I don't think it implies happiness necessarily. I think "it" can apply to anything. You can be loved and still not be happy. But to others, love is the true key to happiness.

Pg. 29 Exercise 2

If ever there was idea custom-made for a Jay Leno monologue, this was it: Rubin in her book tells us that perhaps money can even buy your happiness. Isn't that like saying that you can’t exactly buy yourself a pack of happiness, but you can buy certain things that will make you happy? It can possibly be a certain piece of clothing you like or a video game or book etc. Whatever happened to the fact that you can be the wealthiest in riches but not the wealthiest in health or love? I happen to sympathize with Rubin, though, perhaps because she is telling us that if you have money then you have power and if you have power then you have happiness.

They Say Exercise 2 Page 29

If ever there was an idea custom-made for a Jay Leno monologue, this was it: In the Happiness Project Rubin goes back to what made her happy as a child. Isn't that like for some people running around in their underwear or throwing tantrums to get what we want. Whatever happened to growing up and finding new happiness or just being happy. I happen to sympathize with Rubin by understanding the stress we get as being an adult though, perhaps because we also get to enjoy things we couldn't as children.

If ever there was an idea cutom-made for Jay Leno monologue, this was it: Money can't buy true happiness. Isn't that like someone thinking that money makes happiness? Whatever happened to sympathize with the people and things you already have, though, perhaps because one doesn't realize what happiness really means.

Exercise 2 page 29

If ever there was an idea custom-made for a Jay Leno monologue, this was it: Rubin thinks that in order to really be happy in life there is something you must do which is to have a clear understanding of what is happiness and how you want to incorporate that in your life. Isn't that like you are living without a purpose or without knowing why or what you are living for? Whatever happened to living like there is no tomorrow and being a happy person?
I happen to sympathize with Rubin , though, perhaps because seeking happiness can be an obstacle in life and you can find happiness in a different way every day.

WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?

Love has many things to do with happiness. It does not exactly have to be with a significant other. Just having love in ones heart can make a huge impact in ones self and the surrounding people. Showing love does not have to be giving presents, it can be a simple smile, hug or a simple 'thank you' or 'have a wonderful day'. Being around loving people makes me happy because people who are in a good mood and bring good vibes is contagious. In my opinion, one can not be happy if they don't feel love or don't make an effort to give love. Therefore, love has many things to do with happiness.

I feel that love has to do with a big part of peoples life. I feel that it makes the world go round and everyone needs it to keep going on a daily. Love has to do with a persons happiness a lot more that anything else. Giving love is also what makes people happy and not b so angry all the time.
