Class Meeting Location
I told the 1-2:50 p.m. class we'd meet in the lab, but on second thought, we will continue to meet in D-205 for the duration of class. If we need technology, I will use the projector. Hopefully it will work (smile).
Homework recap for the 1-2:50 p.m. class:
Read Chapter Six: "Skeptics May Object" (78). As you read your book for the next essay, think about how your author addresses skeptics. Where specifically in the text does s/he acknowledge these opposing viewpoints? Does the author use any of the moves articulated by Graff and Birkenstein?
In class today for the 1-2:50 class we reviewed all of the assignments coming up and then watched a New Heroes program about Coopa-Roca .
As I was looking at the website, I noticed the following link. All the links are not live, but quite a few are. Use this resource to find social entrepreneurs who might interest you. There is also information here on some of the entrepreneurs profiled in the programs: http://www.pbs.org/opb/thenewheroes/whatis/resources.html
We wanted to watch the program on Albina Ruiz, whose business in Lima, Peru, finds environmentally friendly ways to rid communities of solid waste. See http://www.pbs.org/opb/thenewheroes/meet/ruiz.html
There are other great resources here like the interview with an entrepreneur who talk about the difference between a social entrepreneur and an entrepreneur: http://www.pbs.org/opb/thenewheroes/meet/
