Kurzweil at Laney
Please write a reflection on your experience this morning with the Kurzweil text to speech program. I have CDs for each of you to try the program out for 30 days. I am going to have the program ghosted on the L-202E computers, so we can use it for the rest of the semester.

I'm really excited about the possibilities for composition and reading. Remember, you can use the labs at Laney, 9-4, M-F, in E-237.

Today was very interesting i learned alot from the new program Kurzweil. It was easier to follow than i thought im excited that we had a chance to use it, and that they gave us a demo. My favorite part was when they showed us how to do the outline for our essay, which was really useful. Thank you Ms.Sabir for introducing us to the program, im goin to download it later.

Well the presentation about the program was interesting. I think it would be really useful not only for reading but also for editing papers. I haven't try the demo version yet though. I think we should use it as part of the course. :)

Okay folks, install the Kurzweil program and try it out. I want you to note how it helps with editing your essays. I'm going to send you responses to your research essay with audio notes to open in Kurzweil.

I'm really excited about the possibility. We won't have the program up and going prior to Spring 2009, but there is a terminal with Kurzweil on it in all the labs on campus: Open Lab, Writing Lab, Computer and Math Labs. Ask the teacher on duty to point it out to you.

I am ever so grateful to have had the chance to partake in the Kurzweil experience. I have always been a passionate yet eloquent writer, and could easily discern the advantage this program would afford me to cultivate my love and talent. After sharing the experience with some fellow classmates, a few were sceptical, stating that they weren't disadvantaged in this arena, therefore the program was essentially useless to them. For some odd reason many students share the same stigma in regards to the usage of the program. I did however find that after sharing my experience and the possibilities I foresee, several did have a different view point. Rather or not other's use it to their vantage, I will undeniably use this wonderful program to assist me in all of my future endeavors. Being both an auditory and a visual learner, I can appreciate the fact that this program is capable of providing me with the auditory aspect of the writing process.

The presentation was very informative. I think the user-friendly aspect of the software can legitimately help students during the writing/editing process of essay composition. I however, have been using the microsoft word processer equivalent of this program for years and have encountered little to no difficulties. Use of either of these programs will augment your writing abilities exponentially, especially the thesaurus, which I try to make use of in my writing for every essay.

I am really excited about this program and I hope COA can get a licence for the program, because it would be so helpful for student who have the same problems as me.

Since I was the first one there I was able play around with the program, and I received a flash drive because I had time to do a quiz, the software was pretty simple.
